I'll sticky this later when people are aware of it.

aye, especially when getting closer to deadline day, about which I hope we have a squad of mods ready to keep it bang up to date as i'm at work at 5am on the morning of sept 1st so can't stop up till midnight (3am if spurs) waiting to see what happens so a one-click whats happened thread on the stickies would be just dandy, newcastle first then major others.

going to be weird the deadline being just hours before a full round of games.

That's a fair old amount of weekly salary walking out the door/being sold.

Roughly:-

Smith - £60k

Lovenkrands - £20k

Guthrie - £10k

Best - £15k

Forster - £2.5k

Ranger - £2.5k

£110k per week (give or take).

If we bring in Debuchy (£30k), Anita (£10k), De Jong (£35k) and Douglas (£30k) OR equivalents of the same status/experience we'll still have a saving whilst hugely improving the quality and depth of the squad.

It's guesswork, of course, but the point stands that we can vastly improve the quality and depth of the squad without having to expand the wage bill. This is a huge plus when you consider the likes of Cuellar will demand a big signing on fee and in excess of £40k a week for the Mackems who already have a shite wage:turnover ratio.

There's only really Xisco left in the squad who is robbing a living and offering nothing for it. Ranger is probably on so little that he doesn't count.

Yep - forgot about Xisco too. Hopefully, when he does go, that'll be another two players we can bring in to enhance the squad.

For all we had plenty of quality about the first team last year our squad depth was really lacking in quality. This is where we should be looking to improve once we've brought in the main targets.

Also, makes sense of the alleged interest in development players, in the hope one or two of them can become squad players over the next 12-24 months.

I'd be really keen on Ashley to throw a few million at kids with potential (like Curtis Good). You've only really got to get one through and you've paid for it two or three times over.

I'm sure this will be right up on the agenda for them though.

I'd be suprised if we didn't insist on a buy back option on the assumption they get promoted back to the pimara?

We should give Xisco another 5 year deal,

Just to remind ashley of the knob he trusted with transfers decisions.

Xisco must have wise tattooed on his arse.

The biggest waste of money in football transfer history.
