Dave
Seriously though, I know ambition is nil, previous transfer windows have been wank and all that but we simply HAVE to make several first team signings this summer or we'll be in really deep shit next season. Pardew's not even close to good enough to manage without it.
Mole_Toonfan
Ney chance he signs for us permanent is there? We just won't pay Think the bigger issue is as linked clubs like Arsenal will come in and even if we were ambitious we still wouldn't get him. Dave
Bit depressing when your best attacker doesn't belong to the club and it looks iffy whether he ever will. I know this is controversial and some might not like to hear it, but if we'd shown some ambition to build on a decent first half of the season then the likes of Remy might well be more interested in staying for next season. Rocket science!
Cajun
If we have arranged a fee already he will sign, if not we probably wont but despite how prolific he has been I am not sure a top side will pick him up. Look at the strikers top clubs have spent big money on yet Ba scored a fuck load of goals for us as a centre forward, was signed for around £7m yet has hardly started a game for Chelsea. Rocket science! Don't be daft. You haven't even considered science there. Edit: Ah shit, you considered rocket science, fair do's. Nah, you're right - any player that believes in their own talent wants to feel like they're at a club that is going places. Now we've made it explicitly clear that we're happy to plod along we will encounter this problem more and more. Imagine being a player and hearing your manager saying "Thank God we're not in Europe". I know this is controversial and some might not like to hear it, but if we'd shown some ambition to build on a decent first half of the season then the likes of Remy might well be more interested in staying for next season. Rocket science! Yep, I completely believe that. I've said it about a million times now, but with the way this season was set up (and subsequently played out), it represented an absolutely massive opportunity for three particular teams to pull up some trees. Us, Spurs and Everton. Two of them have attempted to do that and could still do something very decent this year (although the top 4 do appear to have pulled away now, admittedly). We haven't attempted to do anything and we've faltered to an immovable mid-table position. Doesn't stretch as far as this league campaign either. The FA Cup draw has fallen really well for lower teams, with many of the better sides having to face each other. It's as winnable as it's ever been this year. Then there's next season. The opportunity in January that we missed was also huge with regards to long-term structure. We were on great form up to Christmas, had a terrific foundation of points... if we'd strengthened, we'd have made a go of the top 6, possibly given Cabaye something to consider, had more of a chance of keeping Remy, and put the squad in a great position for the next campaign - with two or three quality additions already integrated before August. This whole season has been one long massive opportunity and we haven't been remotely bothered. There is one target and that is to survive. Anything else means absolutely fuck all apart from one other bullet point: avoid EL at all costs. Meh. Don't know why I bothered even typing that. The board don't care about actual football so nothing exciting was ever going to happen.
TRon
Help who? None of that lot are creators, with or without movement. Movement is creation in the hands of the right manager. Our movement is usually erratic and into the wrong spaces, i.e, cutting inside instead of getting beyond the full backs or getting Ben Arfa to track back rather than attack their bastard defenders. Cool story. The fact our corners were (perhaps rightly) being taken by our rookie local lad LB tells it's own tale, though.

Big Geordie
I would love to see Remy sign permanently, but it's not gonna happen. He wants (and will get probably) CL football and we won't stump up what's required anyway.
Varadi
Current top scorers: Luis Suarez 23 Daniel Sturridge 18 Sergio Agüero 15 Yaya Touré 13 Olivier Giroud 12 Eden Hazard 12 Loïc Remy 12 He's in some pretty decent company there, despite playing for a shitter team than the rest of them and missing quite a few games - someone is almost certain to offer him a lot more money than us I reckon. The College Dropout
We need to keep him or we're f***ed for goals next season. Last season showed if that spine doesn't play well. We are royally f'd. Krul-Colo-Tiote-Cabaye-Star srtriker Last year only Krul & Cabaye had decent seasons and we struggled very badly. Without Ba we would've been relegated. Before his injury I thought he was pretty decent. He also scored some important goals that earned us points (Liverpool, Sunderland). He looked below par for about 2/3 games prior to his injury/surgery but he started the season well enough. He also came back and won us some more points straight away with some good performances. On here, you're either shit or brilliant. Very little middle ground. Thought Krul was okay & Cabaye were okay. Colo, Tiote & Cisse where consistently poor for large parts of the season. Tell you what he definitely was, a drama queen who needed to be centre of attention all the time (along with being a fantastic player). It'll be interesting at PSG because he wont get that type of fawning there.

midds
It's all about managing the fans and their expectations with Pardew and always has been. He'll mention the fact we probably won't sign him permanently in the summer more and more so the fans get used to the idea and by the time his loan expires the fan's expectations of seeing Remy next year will be zero and will therefore cause no upset/unrest. He's very quick to tell us what we, as a club, can't do. We can't sign top players, we can't pay big wages, we can't compete, we can't compete in Europe, we can't handle 2 games a week and we can't break into that top 7. The fan-base has heard so much negativity that it's become numb and de-sensitised to ambition. Some have been convinced that all of the shit that spews from all sources within the club that mediocrity is actually success. Not investing, under the guise of financial prudence, is something to be applauded. Stagnation is spun as 'stability', fan's apathy is actively encouraged and any/all ambition is to be crushed. Losing out on Remy is inevitable, they won't even fucking bother. They've got no intention of signing him and if Remy has an ounce of sense he'll not even consider the prospect.
