What Fernandes has realised is that it's possible to buy success if you just risk enough money. The problem is that they've bought the wrong players so far. If they stay up they will get it right eventually, money talks.

fernandes doesn't have THAT much money. He won't support them in 5 years time. They have to be in the CL with the wages they have within a few years.

Exactly - he'll have spent his entire net worth within a year or two at this rate.  Can't see them getting much debt from banks.  It is a disaster waiting to happen.

One of the Mittals owns a third of QPR. Nuff said about where their money will be coming from.

Not that simple, though, having an owner with loads of money doesn't mean that owner is going to plough it in ad infinitum.

The Mittals who as recently as October 2012 were reviewing their position at QPR and were only persuaded to stay on by a desperate Fernandes.  Yeah... I'm sure they'll keep spending.

He was around before Fenandes though, iirc and QPR were not spending big bucks then. Only when this guy came along a couple of years ago did their spending reach ridiculous levels. They've not the infrastructure or support base to sustain this level of spending for long.

Th sooner they fuck off back to obscurity the better.

QPR aren't idiots. Idiots are those who haven't seen the tv money from next year onwards. There is massive inflation in the market. We will make a healthy profit next year because the tv money will be huge. That is what is at stake. The shittest players will be on 30k/pw in no time because the moolah is flowing into the league. It would be folly for QPR not to try their hardest to stay in the league then regroup in the summer.

Let's say his release clause is 5m. They're basically risking 3.3m plus his wages for the next five months. And the possible returns? Well, premiership money compared to championship money, which by next year will be close to 60m. An idiot would be someone unwilling to risk a few million.

If we're confident we can stay up when our team is fully fit then that's one thing, if we're not confident then not signing Remy would be the most classic example of being penny wise, pound foolish. The money from next year onwards is too important to try to save a million here or there.

Obviously it makes financial sense, if they stay up.

Good old Arry, has a rant about inheriting a team of overpaid foreigners one week, then a month later offers this lad £80,000 a week! Makes lots of sense, Remy is in a win-win situation whether they stay up or go down, he's hardly going to break his neck ensuring their safety! I'll be so glad if they go down, and he walks away for 2 or 3 million

For those saying Fernandes is an idiot, bear in mind that the guy's been in charge for a year and he's learning very quick. He knows it's not sustainable to pay Park 50k/pw but it's more important to stay in the league than worry about change like a few hundred thousand, or a million or two. One of the first things the guy did when he came was talk about increasing revenue and expanding their stadium. He knows what has to be done, now he just has to do it. Harry is a good manager and if they're able to sign a couple of players, they'll survive. Then they'll start clearing out the deadwood in the summer and that's when they can control their wages and spend more responsibly. But firstly they have to survive. Fernandes is a smart businessman.

PS. You don't judge a smart businessman by whether he makes mistakes but by how fast he learns and whether he makes the same mistakes. The guy is learning quick. He dumped Hughes quick, got in a good manager and he's not repeating the same mistakes by signing old players for big money. Remy and M'Vila are players in their primes with many years to go, not hasbeens like Park and Bosingwa. Fernandes got fucked by Hughes but that's going to be the last time he's getting screwed by a simpleton manager who has no financial sense.

Am I the only one that thinks that this isn't quite done and dusted yet?

Going off the last 16 hours worth of meltdown, I think you might just be

Hahah I was part of the meltdown as well, but something just isnt sitting right with me. I don't know what it is, it just all seems very odd. and very convenient last minute interest. And why no confirmation yet? I don't know I have a feeling we might still get him

There'll be some doubts in his mind about going somewhere like QPR, but I'm pretty sure the money on offer will overcome them.

 Yeah, the new guy has a great track record in this area.

Would take him over Ashley. He's already got a better manager.

He's been screwed over by Hughes alone. He spent last Jan and they survived, right after he joined. He spent in the summer and that was when he got fucked. He won't make the same mistake again.

Ironically, if they survive, they'll probably implement a model similar to us and Spurs, except they'll be much more aggressive than us. And if they're able to build a new stadium then they won't be going anywhere for a long, long time.

You can all hide in a dark cupboard and spew nonsense but QPR are doing everything in their power to stay up...Are we?

How do you know we're not? Do you really think they're all sat back in their plush chairs going "meh, whatever"? If QPR paid him more per week, then fair do's to them. Like it or not, our club and its owner do business in a certain way, and he's well within his right seeing as he owns the damn thing. The Remy thing wasn't a charade (nowhere near the Ruiz debacle). He just chose someone else over us. We'll have other targets lined up. Next season's money is too good for fatty to f*** this one up. This fact is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find that "Arry" has bought Remy solely to ensure we remain close to the relegation zone, which then gives QPR a reasonable chance to escape relegation.  After all the more teams stuck at the bottom, the better chance they have of climbing above us/Wigan/Reading/Villa etc.  Call me paranoid if you will..... :-(
