Guest bimpy474
And who are those players that are constantly getting away with it on here? As far as I can see, everyone gets his fair share praise/criticism when warranted, except for the odd few that are just fickle supporters. DJ thinks Remy attitude has been off lately and ‘doesn’t give a shit’ for us. So probably digging at him not being dropped whilst Ben Arfa is warming the bench. You lot are batshit crazy. Please scroll back to the pages where I mentioned I may be actually wrong about that, and I even quoted myself back to YOU, Brett. I give up. Everything you say on this forum is set in stone tablets somewhere apparently, with people using it against you as some kind of evidence to justify getting catty Brett doesn't even know where Remy plays ffs! Brett will be angry with that
DJ_NUFC
One of the reasons this forum has consistently been brilliant to frequent over the years. Like that time after we won against Norwich when everyone was just complaining about everything under the fucking sun. Humans are just whiny, fickle bastards in general, and this forum is an apt microcosm.

At least we have options i suppose, and Pardew is picking the correct options, generally 6th in the league coming up to halfway through the season, offered us that in the summer and we would have been snapping hands off. We should be appreciating the efforts of our squad, they've all played a part and some of them have been tremendous

He seems to have a knack of getting goals by not being picked up when he starts wide left in a front 3. For now I would play him down the middle of a front 3 with Gouffran left and Ben Arfa right. I prefer 4-3-3 so that would be my way of doing things.
DJ_NUFC
Bimpy, that 443 would be magic to watch going forward, but who in the middle of the park? Anita, Kebab and Tiote? Siss dropped?

We got warmer to it against Man Utd, Anita was just given the nod over Ben Arfa.

Tiote or Anita holding in front of the back four, and when i mean holding i mean sitting there, allowing our full backs to get forward in the spaces Remy and Ben Arfa make by drifting in. Cabaye and Sissoko in the middle ahead of whichever one starts. That's how i'd go.

Tiote in front when you want to battle a bit, Anita if you dont need that and want possession even more than i think the formation would give anyway. You can go with Cabaye and Anita in front of Tiote, Anita and Sissoko in front of Tiote. You have a few options when you need them, injuries, tactical or whatever. To be honest i see that as a way to go, but you need more movement and much more attacking intent than Pardew would allow or coach. Never know he might go for it one day. I've no problem with dropping anyone for a bit if we are getting results.

Aye exactly, pick for certains games, type of opposition or if there are injuries, suspensions, poor form, cup games etc. I think it gives us option in the middle and up top. Pardew flirts with it but never really sticks to it, i suppose he's like that with every formation tbh.

One difference still and its has been there in whatever formation Pardew uses, there is nearly always no protection in front of the two CB's. It's been better lately but so often that area is vacated. Even when Pardew does use 4-3-3 or as you say similar tactics, we never seem to have that holding player protecting, most of the time it's Tiote and he doesn't sit as I would prefer. Like I said though it has been slightly better lately. I think Anita is perfect for it, especially with his good passing.
Tiresias
I sort of agree but I think a lot of that was Tiote's awful form last season, imo whatever defensive minded midfielder there is should be picking up the no 10s and players sitting in behind, and for a long time it didn't happen. Equally it didn't help when our CBs were out of form as well and they're quite slow anyway (apart from Mapou) and so are unwilling to press up and reduce that gap. Had some absolutely atrocious touches today but 2 goals? Can't really whinge can you? Would still love to have Gouffran through the middle and Remy wide left, at least give it a try.
