Was getting called out for being lazy last week....

He has been poor the last few weeks but he played very well yesterday. Doesn't mean he wasn't bad the last few weeks though.

Just as being 'bad' doesn't mean he was lazy

The slagging stops today. Immense.

When does it start again? Just so I can put it in the diary.

f***ing hell, what is this, you and Brett competing for night of the dumbass.

Fancy trying to steal my award, Ian :huff:

Such a frustrating player.

At times he looks a very good player but his final ball is usually poor and his first touch is bad.

This guy can be a wonderful player and helluva lot more consistent under better coaching and management. We're always going to get a counter attack opportunity or 2 with him on the pitch.

I didn't think he was very good today. He did find Cisse twice in fairness, but his all-round showing was immensely frustrating. His crossing is bloody rotten, always a flat ball about five yards behind the forward players which is easily dealt with.

The amount of stick this guy gets on here is unbelievable. If he stayed out of the way and passed sideways and backwards his touch would look so much better.

Agree with this. Always find myself thoroughly bemused at the criticism he gets. He's involved in almost everything we do going forward as the only midfielder (that starts) who is even vaguely capable of creating anything. With that amount of responsibility it's hardly surprising that he doesn't do everything right given that he's not even playing in his own position but has been reinvented as a winger in the complete absence of anyone else who can do the job (apart from Hatem Ben Shitbag but we don't talk about him).

He's a strange player in that his all-round game often appears to be crap and his touch useless, and yet if you look at the chances/goals he's involved in a lot of them or sets up chances.

Almost like a 'highlights reel' player.

Agree with this. Feel like people forget about the major contributions he has in nearly all of our wins - be it through his counter attacking, assists, or few goals - he's essential to us with that pace of his.

Far from the finished article - good coaching could make him an immense player. Teach him to use his pace and upper body strength to body up on his man and muscle them off the ball and break forward and lay the ball off sooner then later.

I still think this shouldn't need to be coached to him. He should fucking know it. Unless he grew big the night before we signed him and he's not used to his body yet.

He was shite in the first half and didn't look interested, but improved considerably second half. Say what you will about him, but over the course of a game he'll usually create a chance for someone.

Takes a frustratingly long time to make his mind up at times, mind.

Couldn't disagree with this more. First 10-15 minutes he was at the heart of everything we did well.
