Massadio Haïdara (now playing for Brest)

It actually might have ended up being better for the lad that the impact happened above his knee as it almost certainly would have been a fracture if it had been below. I was worried he had a fractured femur which would have been hard to come back from, but sounds like his knee absorbed the impact and was in good enough condition not to damage the ligaments

Mature words from the lad. Fair play to him. Hope he's back out on the pitch soon.

Was just thinking, probably the most mature comments of all, from the young lad who was the victim.

Yep... sounds like an intelligent chap.

If McManaman gets the leading boot out a little sooner, and hits him on the downward trajectory (and he was like a bull rushing out the gate), where the impact would be sliding down towards his ankle, it's a career killer. McManaman was coming in with more forward momentum & velocity than Taylor, when Eduardo was taken out.

Extremely fortunate lad.

Massadio Haidara Injury Latest

We can confirm that results of the latest scan on Massadio Haidara show that the player has very fortunately escaped any significant bone or ligament damage following the dangerous tackle by Wigan Athletic's Callum McManaman on Sunday.

We are very pleased that the extent of his injury is less severe than first feared and is limited to bruising to the bone and soft tissue damage.

Depending on the speed of his recovery he should be fit to play again in early April.

Massadio will continue to be assessed over the coming days. He has been very lucky that he has not suffered more serious injury and this positive diagnosis in no way lessens the Club's views with regard to the severity of the tackle from which it resulted.
