Alan Pardew

He loses a significant sum of cash if he lets Pardew go, no? Why not make things so unbearable that Pardew leaves of his own accord?

Would make sense anyway.

Makes no sense,  hire another staff with 3 year contract is not the way to cut down budget.

It's got nothing to do with trimming the budget, it's Ashley knowing he looks like an idiot if he gives Pardew an 8-year contract, fires him after 1 season, and loses out on whatever severance terms are included in Pardew's contract.

We have no idea what's included in JK's contract, or really what his role will be. Guy seemed desperate enough to get back into football in whatever capacity, I'm sure he's here on a skin and bones contract.

The only logical reason Ashley brought-in JK is to put pressure on Pardew. Otherwise it's a completely irrational move.

It all depends on what Ashley's motivation for hiring JK is.

Ashley does not care if he looks like an idiot , otherwise he would not had hired JFK.

I do not buy this nonsense that JFK is here to push Pardew out that is complete tripe.  He can afford to pay off Pardew easily, if Ashley is so scared of paying out money, why did he sanction all those transfers in January?

That depends on what his motivations are. If he's aiming to force out Pardew, it makes sense. If it works, he's accomplished what he wanted to accomplish.

If his primary motivation is to surround himself with another yes-man, it makes sense.

I don't think Ashley sees any discernible difference between Pardew and Kinnear as managers. Trading one yes-man crap manager with a big contract for another yes-man crap manager with a small contract would be a coup for him. Ashley will do just enough to keep the team in the PL, whatever that entails.

I truly think Ashley thought he had struck gold with Pardew after the 2011/12 season: a yes-man manager who could seemingly oversee some competitive football. So he gave him a big fat contract to keep him around. And when we tanked last season, Ashley really started to regret that big fat contract. And he loses a lot of face if he drops his prized manager and is forced to give him a nice severance.

To be perfectly honest, Ashley doesn't lose a lot of face by giving Kinnear a front office job. We here know how utterly shite he is at what he does, but your lay fan doesn't care what happens off the field, behind the scenes. Think there'd be an uproar from the fanbase as a whole if we dropped Graham Carr? People, generally, care only about what happens on the field and they're not going to look beyond the players and manager.

I don't think Pardew and Ashley are particularly close. Llambias seems to be the only reason the two ever came into contact. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if when Hughton's head was on the block Llambias was the one who suggested AP and got him the job.

I personally (and this is conjecture) think Ashley feels marginalised. When things were working well he was willing to give Pardew/Llambias the benefit of the doubt but because the shit hit the fan last season and Llambias went to bat for Pardew when he came under fire he began to feel like their working relationship was too close (could be why, if Kinnear is correct, Llambias has been moved to finance?) and he was losing control. He doesn't trust them anymore. He wants eyes and ears in the club.

This is going to end in Pardew being sacked or walking and Kinnear getting the job again. Nailed on. Disaster.

I think this is more cock-up than conspiracy. With the Keegan - Wise fiasco, Ashley showed extremely poor judgement in setting up a system which, given the individuals in question, was never going to work. He might well be making a similar mistake.

A football club isn't just a private company, where you can hire and fire and muddle through. It's also a public institution in which the community invests a lot of attention and commitment. You can't just blunder along like this.

Keep thinking of this article from May with regards to Pardew's contract:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-2320978/Mike-Ashley-pay-Alan-Pardew-10m-sacks-Newcastle-manager-year-deal-Charles-Sale.html

One of the only journalists going against the grain of the contract being littered with clauses, but a reputable journalist who is usually well informed.

I remember scoffing at the idea that Ashley would be daft enough to not put clauses in, but I've had my fingers burnt thinking "Ashley's not daft" too many times now.

Alternatively, (and this is real long game conspiracy theory ) Ashley gets rid of Kinnear and we are SOOOOOO grateful just to have Pardew in charge.

If you wanted a pair of eyes and ears inside the club you'd at least want somebody who could repeat what he'd seen or heard.  Kinnear can't tell him who he is, where he is or what he's doing, he's the last thing you would want to be relying on.

Looks like Pardew or someone close to him has had a word with at least one journalist:

Alan Pardew is ready to tell his Newcastle paymasters and the club's new director of football, Joe Kinnear, that he remains in sole control of the first team.

Kinnear has claimed he will have authority over the style of play when he takes on the role he dramatically announced he was set for on Sunday afternoon. That, however, could now be a serious area of conflict with Pardew unwilling to allow his authority in first-team matters to be challenged.

Newcastle United had still not confirmed Kinnear's appointment last night, a further sign of their surprise that he went public on Sunday to announce his new position and then explain his role at St James' Park.

Pardew had been made aware of the impending appointment beforehand but has still to speak with the new director of football. That is one reason why there has been a delay in official confirmation of Kinnear's arrival. It had been planned for yesterday afternoon, 24 hours after Kinnear revealed the news himself. Pardew is willing to meet Kinnear to discuss his role and what impact it will have on the manager's own position, which has been cast into doubt as a result of the impending appointment.

Pardew did not have the final say over transfers before Kinnear was set to be introduced to a new role at the club. That was the responsibility of the chief scout, Graham Carr, although it was an area of frustration, with Pardew admitting at the end of the season that the club should have bought more players with Premier League experience.

The possibility, however, of an attempt to dictate the style of play, Pardew will not accept. He has contractual responsibility for the first team at Newcastle and it is an area he will not allow Kinnear to control. "In Alan's contract he is the manager of the Newcastle first team," said a source. "His responsibility is the first team."

Kinnear, who had a new office assigned to him at the club yesterday, has already admitted his wide range of responsibility will extend beyond playing a part in recruitment. Carr, despite being the first employee at the club to be rewarded with an eight-year deal by owner Mike Ashley, has not had the power to tell Pardew who to sell, something Kinnear said he will have.

"If I see players at the club right now and don't think they are good enough I intend to move them on," he said. "I know I've got more knowledge than anyone at Newcastle as a football manager."

Kinnear revealed yesterday in an interview with the Newcastle Evening Chronicle that he would now be the man at the club who reports directly to Ashley, who has owned United since buying them from Sir John Hall in 2007 for around £55m.

"I'm in a role where I'm the only one who is going to report to Mike Ashley," Kinnear said.

"Derek [Llambias, the managing director] is a businessman and he will deal with the finances. That is his expertise as he has run casinos. I will look at things from a football point of view.

"We will need to look at where we need to strengthen and look at players X, Y and Z to see who is the best option. I will have an office at the training ground and that is where I will be.

"To go from fifth to 16th is a drastic slide. I will be here to put my finger on the pulse and see where we are going wrong. If we see things that we believe are not Newcastle, and not good enough for Newcastle, then I will shift them. It is as simple as that."

Kinnear also claimed Llambias had already told him about Pardew's reaction to his appointment.

"Before I had a meeting with Mike, Derek said he's informed Alan, and Alan said, 'Great news, I'm delighted with that. At last I've got somebody who's a football guy.'

"Derek told me he's had a long talk with Alan, and explained that I'm coming in as director of football.

Didnt expect him to walk before but wouldnt be surprised now. Previously he'd maybe remembered for the shit season, now he'd get a lot of sympathy and be remembered for refusing to be undermined.

I'd respect him for that at least.

Strange world, seasons end, we were hoping pardew to get the sack, and for Lambert or someone more talented to come, instead we find out that Pardew gets to stay and Kinnear can join him

After giving it some thought , maybe there is an upside to this whole fiasco........

If Pardew Walks and Kinnear becomes manager, it wont be for long since Joe is 66 .

Than we have another chance of a appointment, can't be any worst than these two clueless bob heads.

Worst Scenario, They both stay and forge a Mafia and run us to the ground...for the next 15 years...

Pardew is fucking shit and a fraud as well. They're both part of the same fucking brigade. Get them out.

Other teams search the world for managers of good pedigree - we go down the leagues and away from football to find the shittest shit.
