You know when you pretend to throw something for a dog and no matter how many times you do it he keeps running?

That's Mike Ashley and a lot of our fans. Him and Derek will be pissing themselves at Casino 'Al getting all the blame.

How? Ashely has his faults but he gifted us 5 players in Jan. And Pardew still conspired to f*** it up? Was it Ashley who decided to play Ameobi in any game, as a way of getting back into it? Was it Ashely who played Ameobi on the winf against Ian Harte? whatever his faults are Pardew f***ed a lot of this season of his own accord, not sure how you can argue otherwise. No one i blaming Pardew for transfers, I am blaming him for what happens on the pitch.

I think you're getting your timeline messed up sunshine.

P.S ''gifted''

I'm interested in people's opinion's on what it'll take to see him sacked next season. In the drop zone until christmas?

Depends who we sell and who we bring in and what the team is set up like...what will ashleys league target be?

We are only in 3 comps next season...europa nollox wont wash.

I think an awful first 10 games might see a wobble.

Im worried about the carroll talk..

If in doubt put it long business.

Its a fresh start but i have concerns

Would you be bothered if we played long ball and started twatting in the goals with Carroll/Cisse?

Would love it if we we're blasing goals in but I can seee it.  The season we finished 5th we were'nt blasting goals in, last season we weren't blasting goals in...I cant see how bringing in carroll is going to bring a goal glutt to our team.  Last season we barely created anything for Cisse.

Its a fresh start but i have my concerns.

This guy shouldn't have been granted any holiday.

He should be slaving away on developing some attacking nous.

Mentally he needs a reset. If anything he really needs a break away from football to evaluate himself and how the season went rather than being right in there and still worrying. From that I hope we get new club Pardew rather than a couple of years in Pardew who has painted himself in to a corner of negativity.

People are overestimating Ashely's allegiance to Pardew. He'll have used up most of the good will he earned previously. Is there any actual reason to think that that owner is prepared to watch the world burn if it means his mate keeps a job? Pardew is still here because he performed significantly better than expected in 2011-2012 and because he is a tolerable personality in terms of interaction with the board. Even the much discussed 8 year contract came after a thoroughly acceptable start to the season, which had been preceded by our best campaign in several years. Much has changed since then, and I think Pardew was legitimately on the brink in May even after QPR. There are covert signs of discontent from the players/staff, overt signs of anger from the supporters, and the lack of tangible improvement after the investment in January will be important to the man that dispense the funds. If things continue in the same vein, he will go, he almost already went.

I think that's about right. I don't think we necessarily need to be in the drop zone for Pardew to get sacked, just in the bottom half of the table and showing no signs of going anywhere but downhill. I'm fairly confident that Pardew will lose what little confidence there was in the dressing room quite quickly so I reckon he'll be gone by Christmas. That said, I was pretty sure he'd be sacked in the summer so who knows? Next season will be shit.

Did you see the pics of this guy at the Monaco Grand Prix?

This guy certainly isn't doing any self reflection that's for sure!

Chain him to the radiator, and have the all the Barca games on a continuous loop till he gets it.

I did, but him running himself in to the ground isn't going to help. If he watched Barca games on loop he'd only see if from the oppositions point and try and think of how to defend against them, and fail.

Seriously though, he needs a break away from football to evaluate himself, his methods and recharge his batteries, if you thought this Pardew is bad, imagine one running on fumes at the start of the season.

Exactly, I don't know how anybody could believe Pardew is on anything other than his last warning. Guess it gives people another reason to have a go at Ashley for not sacking him already.

Recent posts in here have implied that if you don't rate Pardew then you automatically must bum Ashley.

Best thing for everyone is to take some time off and forget this season completely. Last thing we need is the manager beating himself up for the whole summer and starting the season exhausted.

I've sort of resigned myself to taking next season off as well because I find it hard to get excited about our prospects. Obviously I'll still look forward to the games but I'm treating it like a gap year at Uni.

They're both complete pests.

Just like any other year then since Bobby left.

I've had a week or so off of here and don't feel so bad about last season now, it's done and we're over it. I have no control in what happens in the beginning of next season so it's not worth the worry. One of two things will happen, Pardew goes against type and actually learns something and we have another good season, or true to type he wastes our talent and we go into free fall and he's on his jolly way to the job centre.

With MA finally showing some ability to learn from his mistakes and growing as an owner in that respect I can just hope plan B is already in motion and not another panic hiring of a useless has been manager. The jury is still out on that one as we know his penchant for cheap and cheerful, though he has shown willingness in the past to break the mould when needed.

Agreed, I just hope we're not looking for another manager during the season because we'll no doubt appoint more dross.

It's easy to say now but I wouldn't mind looking for a new manager during a summer break and going for the best that we can attract, rather than who is out of work at the time.

If he's the favourite to go next then put your house on him staying. He won't be sacked next season.

Why do you say that? Because we'll do better, or just they won't sack him whatever?

Because he survived the worst season I've ever watched and we won't do as badly as that next year so there's no reason to sack him.

You were born in 2010?

I wasn't as bothered about the relegation season because there was so much going on (Keegan, Kinnear, Shearer etc) that it was likely to end badly. There's no excuses at all for how badly last year went and that to me is far worse.

How does last season compare to other 'poor' seasons for you?

1997/98: Keegan gone, Kenny Dalglish here. Ferdinand gone, Rush signed. Shearer gone (for the season), Paul Dalglish signed. Title-challenging football gone, Champions League football here. Are a moment of history (Tino) and an appearance at Wembley enough to make up for the sheer contrast between the previous season and this one?

1998/99: Dalglish gone, Mr Sexy Football here. Champions League gone, Cup Winners Cup here. Rush gone, Guivarc'h here. Another Wembley no-show, early European exit and another nothing league campaign for the team that had been genuine title challengers not 2 years removed. Lowered expectations?

2004/05: fresh off our 4th, 3rd, 5th SBR is sacked and Souness is tasked with the job of dismantling his squad right before our eyes. A couple of cup runs are ended by 4-1 thrashings while our best player ends up with a medal but in a different league.

2005/06: a continuation of the Souness debacle is abruptly halted and we dither about looking for a replacement while Roeder is stood holding the fort as we surprisingly qualify for Europe. This was poor season for all that happened OFF the pitch, rather than on it. Shearer broke the record, so I guess it wasn't all bad.

2006/07: Roeder seemingly gets the managers position via osmosis, leads the club to it's first minor trophy since the Texaco Cup of 1992(?). Playing squad continues to be decimated by injury and transfers (both outgoing AND incoming). A decent UEFA cup run is ended when we manage to throw away a sizeable lead against AZ Alkmaar; the inevitability of that 2-0 defeat summed up Roeder's 'style'.

2007/08: New owner, new manager, new success on the pitch? Not so, as Fat Sam is hounded out by the fans thanks to his shocking signings and rubbish football. In hindsight, this may well have been the point when the new owner (FMA) realised that the club couldn't afford to keep pretending to eat at the top table of football clubs and decided to run us within our means. Cue a decade of 'lowered expectations'...

2008/09: won't talk about this - 4 managers, or something.
