healthyaddiction
If a club like Man City can spend like they have and not fall afoul of FFP then the system is definitely pointless.
Beren
Wouldn't be surprised if their Melbourne purhcase was to help them fudge the books. Melbourne can buy some 12 year old off Citeh for £70m, and all the Negredo/Jovetic money etc will have come out of transfer fees received.
leffe186
Clubs can deduct a lot of expenses in youth development, infrastructure, etc... so the losses posted in accounts aren't equal to "FFP losses". It's a lot murkier than that. This is what I posted in "Football Finances": http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/25951455 As with all things financial-related, the devil is in the detail. Intriguingly, City made £47m from the sale of "intellectual property" to "related" and "third" parties - without that income the losses would have been higher and being FFP compliant a much tougher task. As it is, despite finishing over the £37m figure, City are confident their spending on youth development and infrastructure - which is exempt for FFP accounting purposes - will enable them to comply. Selling intellectual property, my arse.

jdckelly
A television crew at the club’s Colney training ground then jokingly asked Hoolahan: “Are you going to be clearing your locker out?” But they and other watching journalists were shocked when the 31-year-old replied: “I hope so. This is a f***ing s***house club.” http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/norwich-aston-villa-transfers-wes-3095039#ixzz2rvO8c800 all is not well at Norwich
