Edwards, in yesterday's paper:

"The Daily Telegraph understands there was money available, but there was often a lack of agreement between Kinnear, Pardew and chief scout Graham Carr about how best to use it. When the trio did agree on targets, Kinnear failed to make the deals happen.

"Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, Lille's Florian Thauvin, Chelsea's Demba Ba, Norwich City's Anthony Pilkington, Blackpool's Thomas Ince and Wigan's James McCarthy were all targeted, but none signed."

If true, what a system...

Of course it isn't true. The club were never wanting to sign anyone until Cabaye left.

That didn't strike me as the case at all. The Telegraphs version is a good deal more believable, and if anything, actually more disheartening.

Manchester United need someone to help them in the transfer market, according to former Tottenham and Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli.

United manager David Moyes and chief executive Ed Woodward are new to their roles at the club and had a difficult summer in the transfer market.

The club missed out on numerous targets before signing Everton's Marouane Fellaini for £27.5m on deadline day.

"If there's a club who needs a director of football it's United," said Comolli.

"It would ease the process for both individuals."

Sounds a bit like us,  I vote for JK to ask for the job!

Tbh, I still didn't actually think that Kinnear had been given the responsibility of signing our players. I can't imagine that Kinnear would be given that job with player recruitment genuinely being the desired outcome, at least.

It seems like he is the one who execute rather than finding the targets. So the failure could actually contributed to the struggles between pardew and Carr again.

That said, he is the one who call off the Douglas deal.

More believable because it fits your argument better?
