"You're probably talking the likes of Liverpool/Spurs after him these days so the fee would be in the 20 to 30 mill region"

Worth half Martial then. Geniuses.

Yep! Alan Shearer of 1996 after topping the Premier League charts for three years in a row and winning the Golden Boot at Euro 96 would be worth that today!

If you actually click on that link though, that's one person out of pretty much everyone else saying that he'd go for a world record fee.

Eeyer, he's nee sewpa Kev.

Shearer getting the silent treatment whilst they went acca for Sewpa Kev when England beat Belgium 2-1 at the SoS was hilarious too.

I was at that game - Philips got MOM depite doing nowt all game.

Check out the BBC report at the time - the only mention of rat-boy is when he is subbed:

I remember when I tweeted an innocent joke about their empty seats and, within half an hour, dozens had ganged up on me, went through really old tweets and called me a paedophile because I have thick-rimmed glasses. Standard, classy stuff.

Well, they like paedophiles these days, so they probably wouldn't say that now.

Given their staunch defence of Johnson was the paedo comment not meant as a compliment??

He would be the best striker in Europe now at his peak.

Yep - he was absolutely unbelievable!

People forget that he suffered a career threatening injury at Blackburn and two whilst playing for us which kept him out for nearly THREE seasons!

He’d have finished with well over 300 Premier League goals without them! Also, he played for a bottom half team for half of his time here too!

I hope that Scouse twat doesn’t break his record!

Rooney wouldn't have broke the record the other nigt if Shearer hadn't missed all those games as he would still be catching up to his total IMHO

Owen replaced Phillips, while Phil Neville came on for Kieron Dyer.

The new players immediately gave England a sharper edge, and within a few minutes of their arrival Redknapp fired England ahead.

Had a cracking game then
