Away Day Gadgie
Love Hughton but he had to go really. Smart move if they get someone decent in straight away. He’ll get a decent gig elsewhere i’d imagine.
jdckelly
they have been diabolical this season, they survive due to utter incompetence of others rather than any ability of their own
St1pe
Love Hughton as well but they were one of the worst teams I’ve seen play this season - especially the away game that we somehow didn’t win.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don’t think you can argue it’s a mistake to sack him really. They’ve done just enough to survive. Fair enough if that’s down to the quality of their players, but they should be allowed to roll the dice on the manager.
Froggy
I'm not really sure how much Brighton have spent but what was the goal other than survive this season? Bit harsh I think.
County Durham Mag
They are awful so it's deserved. He's spent too much time spouting total bollocks about how Black and ethnic people are discriminated in football as he sits there a millionaire

Big Geordie
Hughton is a very decent man, but this has been coming since New Year.
The College Dropout
It’s tough on Hughton but that team is stagnating. He’s not shown he can make a mistake PL team. Some awful transfers too. He’s no track record of being able to maintain mid table like a Hughes. This is one of those that could go either way for Brighton. Could easily sink or they properly become a mid table side. As for Man Utd. problems bigger than a manager. LVG laid some decent ground work for a young side. Then went opposite end of the spectrum with Mourinho who wants 27 year old players all the time. Undoing a lot of LVGs work without allowing him to build a solid foundation of his own. Awful in the transfer market for some time. It’s been years since Liverpool made a bad signing. samptime29
Brighton have been pretty gash in 2019 tbf, but he's taken them from relegation candidates in Championship to the Premier League within a few seasons, and he's kept them up 2 seasons in a row (without even being in the bottom 3). Personally, feel it's harsh, and he deserved to still be there, but it's the Chairman's decision and we'll have to see how it pans out.
The College Dropout
Any football club is only as good as it’s ownerships abilities and ambition. Liverpool and Spurs are the best run teams in the league and it shows. Under Levy it’s been 15 or so years of progress.
Odear
Not surprised at all. He didn’t have a great year in fairness. They were a good side the year before though, it might have been just a case of a couple of players who think they should be elsewhere upsetting the apple cart. Player power over the last decade has been disgusting.

Probably invested less but there’s a clear gap between us. We have a manager with a higher ceiling. A relegation battle looks Hughtons level.

James
It’s a real shame he’s done a good job there in balance. Yes he has had a blip but seems a lot of it was down to bad attitude of the new players. Would have liked to have seen him given a chance again next season with Dan Ashworth supporting him this time around.
James
Nice man, good coach, terrible manager imo He is not a terrible manager he’s done a good job at two of the three clubs he has managed leaving them in a better position than when he joined.

He's spent too much time spouting total bollocks about how Black and ethnic people are discriminated in football as he sits there a millionaire Seriously though as much respect as I have for Chris Hughton he's spent something like £150m and that team he's assembled looks bloody awful! On the other hand when he took over he kept them in the Championship when they looked like going down, 2 years later he had them in the Premier League for the first time in their history, has kept them there for the past 2 seasons and this season he got them to their first FA Cup Semi Final for 36 years. No sentiment or loyalty in football any more though.
