He did a decent job. They sold one of their best players to us and bought nobody decent to improve on a team which finished 4th in the Championship last season. They had also been unlucky in a lot of games lately

Think we're massively underestimating the effect of a manager when we're accepting 13 points from 20 games as a good job regardless of the circumstances like. That includes a really decent opening to the season too (winning their first 2 games, so 7 points in 18 games really).

They needed to make a change. Still likely to go down, though.

Usual 'why not give a British manager a chance' and 'what does he know about the Premier League?' tripe regarding this appointment on SSN.

Talking about a club that have just sacked a British manager with about as much experience of the Premier League as you can possibly get. He left them rock bottom of the league.

I do think that Phelan was a bit unlucky mind. Their record was shit, but I expected far worse from them considering.

How many British managers are in charge of clubs abroad?

And of the 71 British managers in charge of an English club at the moment, how many of them have ever been abroad to manage?

Maybe the lack of good British managers is down to the fact that none of them are willing to go away and learn from elsewhere but just stay stuck in their same old routine and ways.

Been saying the same about the national team and players for years as well.

Thought Hull looked miles better against Man U than they did against us. Maybe this forrin bastard actually knows a thing or two?

They started the game with a clear gameplan to play the ball about and attack Man Utd but just lacked the personell for it I thought, even more so when Henriksen went off (and he's only been there a week). Definitely looks promising though.

Kevin Nolan close to being confirmed as Notts County's new manager.

Their current caretaker manager is Alan Smith

Where's the most punchable faces in the media thread gone?
