His coaching staff are directly paid by Bielsa himself rather than being employees of Leeds though, so they're included in that figure.

I wonder if Steve Bruce paid the wages of the other Steves on his coaching staff while he was on his rolling contract at Newcastle?

He's done a brilliant job at Leeds

Yes, he got them up (eventually), but so what? Hughton's done that too. Hughton is rated justly but Bielsa is a bit overrated.

But anyway, this is not about Leeds solely; Bielsa's career is defined by' half-done' jobs.

Provided we're still in it, the Premier League is better for having Leeds in it than someone like Brentford or Burnley, so would like them to stay up.

I'm really not sure whether Bielsa going is a good thing or not for them though. It didn't happen last year, or their final championship season, but Bielsa is infamous for his teams being way worse in the second half of the season, presumably because all the players are knackered due to his style of football and training. If that's the case now, then bringing someone else in probably isn't going to sort things out for the rest of the season.

Have to say, I’ve loved watching this Leeds team under him. They’ve been pure entertainment. He’s been a breathe of a fresh air imho.

They were awesome when they first came up, no fear, played open and ran their collective bollocks off. What we're seeing this season is a lack of adaptation to the squad available.

They fucking schooled us last year 5-2, was embarrassing.

Bielsa has spent more than I thought at Leeds- Rodrigo 30m, Llorente 20m, Raphinha 18m, Costa 18m, James 29m, Firpo 15m, Harrison 13m, Koch 13m- all without bringing any cash in via sales of players in return.

He's done an excellent job there, essentially got them in the position where they had something to lose and could press the panic button. Really enjoyed watching them, they're basically when you set your tactics to ultra attacking on FIFA from kick off.

That just seems like par for the course for any championship team that want to stay in the Premier League these days. Raphinha for 18m is an absolute bargain like. Would be over the moon if we signed him for twice that in the summer.

Getting spanked 6-0, 4-0 week in/out suggests that he hasn’t done an ‘excellent’ job at all. Just because they attack at all costs, means nothing if they end up relegated. Imo.

Yeah, it seems that way now. But Raphinha was bought for a loss from Rennes from what they purchased him for. It was a gamble at the time. Compare those figures to our own prior to the last transfer window.- they’ve spent more than us.

He got Leeds from perpetual Championship bottlers to getting promoted and being the most exciting team to watch in the Premier League. Coming unstuck now doesn't change any of that.

Didn't some of the bigger named younger foreign managers credit Bielsa as a big influence/mentor to them? I seem to recall Pochettino and maybe Guardiola mentioning him?

Yes.
