Flip
So Arena Amazonia in Manaus where England v Italy will play is going to be inaugurated next Sunday (98% of construction is ready). Can't believe that we've built such a beautiful stadium in Manaus in the Amazon. What a waste of money. Although tbf it's one of the arenas that will be used the most as the locals apparently have big traditions that will happen in the stadium. Flip
Arena da Baixada in Curitiba (that's been criticized so much) isn't even close to being ready. Seems like mid-may will be the date for inauguration. Looks horrible on the outside, extremely ugly arena, but apparently inside it will be a cozy little stadium that will be perfect for the craziest TIFO of Brazil to shine. Flip
Sao Paulo, so yes, they're used to building and considering the construction started the absolute latest there they are on pace to be ready. Hadn't that crane absolutely fucked up then I think it would've been close to being finished. Images from yesterday. Think it the end product will be magnificent and very modern. Corinthians will be able to fill it quite comfortably as well unless they charge huge prices for the domestic games. http://www.lancenet.com.br/fotos/Confira-Arena-Corinthians-Foto-DivulgacaoOdebrecht_LANIMA20120927_0057_46.jpg
loki679
When you said they'd built it in the amazon I was expecting to see a stadium plonked in the middle of a rainforest or something. Quite disappointed tbh.

Quite disappointed tbh. Clearly that was never going to happen. Although it is still IN the Amazon, it's just that it's a city there. The Amazon isn't all rainforest. Yorkie
Cheers for the pics, Felipao. but MOAR pls The brand new stadiums is always one of my favourite things about these tournaments. That Sao Paolo one is going to be incredible. That Manaus one is class too but not particularly fond of the seats' colour scheme...
Flip
We've got the Beira Rio in Porto Alegre finished but not according to FIFA standards apparently completely. Something is lacking or has to be added. Also it's being all paid by the club to re-modernise the stadium. Belongs to Internacional. Disco
Aye, like how they've kept the terrace behind the goal. Not so much a fan of the oval stadium design, would be handy if it was in Oz though.

Love the style inside, although I think the oval works so well for Maracana. Just makes it look bigger than it really is. Maracana is beautiful btw. The scenery around the stadium from inside is just beautiful. Here's an image I took in the re-inauguration when England played them. http://i57.tinypic.com/wslemr.png

Flip
That's incredible. Bit concerned at still seeing loads of 'artist' pictures when we're a few months away That arena isn't going to be used however. Although the concern is mostly down to the stadiums in Coritiba and Cuiaba. Sao Paulo is a city where I don't see any problems with it being built in time. Like I said earlier it began later than everyone and one mistake that could happen anywhere happened there and has delayed the building. After all there's three stadiums that are delayed. One which 100% will be ready, another that is 95% done and the last one in Coritiba that FIFA reconfirmed as a stadium for the World Cup so I guess it will be ready. Although this is just evidence that whenever the government is involved in construction everything is delayed. How come Palmeiras, and Gremio got their stadiums constructed without real problems until now? Government is in it to profit, bunch of corrupt politicians running this beautiful country.
