mrmojorisin75
It's not really to do with the club or the squad, it's about getting people to use the area of SJP when there's not a match on. yeah, but the club own the land and would thus be held ultimately responsible for the injuries to all the pissheads and kids crippling themselves on matchdays

AlanSkÃrare
Hideous article on Chris Hughton in the Chronicle today. To summarise: "Hughton was great to the press, not like Pardew, this isn't about the press ban btw" He also quoted something from Guardiola about "hating excuses" and called him a "top manager". Clear dig at Pardew. Fucking child. He's licked Pardew's pelvis for so long.

Wallace
There is an article in today's Journal (not online yet) saying that NUFC have written to all national newspaper editors offering them packages for exclusive access to interviews for a fee. They have told reporters from the nationals working in the NE that they will no longer be given access to players between matches; such access will only be given to those organisations that pay for the privilege. There are 3 packages for different levels of access. One of the nationals has already said no. I wonder if this also extends to the French media and SD News. One of their grievances which was raised with the recent ban was that they felt their charity work did not get the publicity it merited although the papers listed numerous articles covering such events. Surely, there will be less inclination from the media to cover such events in the future.

Big Geordie
That's been rumored for some time and I think NUFC aren't the only club trying that. Nationals should tell the club where to shove it. Have said it before, but eventually - everything will go through the SD News site.
LRD
SDNews gets all the exclusive player interviews then. Not that it will stop the other newspapers from publishing them later.
AlanSkÃrare
It's all part of the attempts to lower expectations. Adjust and fine-tune the PR machinery. It's more and more obvious what they're trying to do here. The only information going out of the club will be carefully orchestrated by the regime in order for us to appear more coherent than we are. On top of that, "Kinnear's" matchday column, Pardew's interviews (and Llambias before he left) are all trying to paint a picture of where we are and what our limited capabilities are. They're doing their outmost to communicate about a situation where we should be thankful for every little success and be vary of the financial constraints we're under. Lowering expectations, in short. This is another step.
Benwell Lad
So the Murdochs, Viscount Rothermere, Richard Desmond, the Barclay brothers and other assorted billionaires running media empires will now be expected to cough up for some of their juiciest and most popular material. They gladly pay X-Factor wanabees and all types of scallywags for "exclusives" but expect free access to footballers' lives and views? Surprised it's taken until now for clubs to cotton on to this and I doubt we'll be the only big club thinking this way.
NG32
But equally football clubs get excellent exposure. who in their right mind would pay to have access to nufc. I could understand if we were world beaters but we are just mid table munters. If this sort of thing is to go ahead, then it needs to be done through a collective via the premiership as a whole. Like the TV deals.
AyeDubbleYoo
Seems to me you could do almost as good a job as the local press if you never visited the club at all. If you have the numbers of a couple of coaches/players as well, then you're sorted.

Like the TV deals. Dunno, but we may find out shortly. Anyway from what I read above (the Journal stuff) it says that it's the "nationals" and applies to player interviews. That would imply that normal match reports, press conferences, releases etc are not included. As you say we may not be world beaters, but the media interest in NUFC remains very high indeed, we sell papers and people like hearing about us, so the club probably view this interest as some kind of saleable asset. I guess it's the way entertainment and media works in the 21st century.
NG32
Fairy muff. just seems alien to me. If it is to happen it should be a collective deal. As otger clubs have far more interesting players. Would create more cash for the already bigger clubs.
