AyeDubbleYoo
I don't think it's the main reason he keeps him, but it's not beyond comprehension that it's also a factor, easier to get manager to spin your bullshit for you if you have something over them no? He's doing a sterling job as a bang average manager that's never goin to tear up any trees and dampen expectations to keep supporters in line, that's a main reason to keep him but I believe the debts have some credence too. But Ashley has all he'll ever need to keep Pardew in line anyway, the fact that he has appointed and could fire him from an absolutely mint job. Mole_Toonfan
The main reason he keeps him is because he has no ambition to anything beyond what Pardew gives him for minimum wage ( in football terms) and that he doesn't really know any better. Just how much of a debt has he racked up for Asley to 'have something over' him and force him to do his bidding? SanToon suggests 'several thousand pounds', but considering he's flush enough to drop £160,000 in a week just to get to nuzzle a Tiger, I suspect you might think it's more than that. Guest bimpy474
Pardew doesn't owe him money, it just one of those ridiculous rumours that develop and grow. Ashley is a cunt, he hired Llambias also a cunt, Vetere, Wise, Kinnear all cunts. The only decent bloke he hired was KK and he only did that because he was looking back at our best time as a team. He only hired Shearer out of desperation in trying to stay up. And so he hires another cunt in Pardew. It's just that, a cunt owns us and has surrounded himself in people as cuntish as himself. Cronky
My understanding was that Llambias got to know Pardew during his days at West Ham, and was the chief advocate for him getting the job here. I reckon the gambling debt story stems from a photo of Pardew, Llambias and Ashley together at Llambias's casino. Not much to build on, and I can't see Pardew being a heavy gambler anyway. Doesn't have the nerve to gamble if you go by his team selections.
Thomson Mouse
This secret footballer nonsense has probably been created by the media so they can talk crap whenever they want and not be at risk of lawsuits.

How do you know that he is paying from his own pocket..? Wouldn't be at all surprised if Ashley was paying these fines by giving Pardew a 'bonus'....esp likely in the case of the 60,000.
