Is it just me who actually likes having threads about other teams? I mean, no-one complains about there being a specific 5under1and thread, even if it's just full of people unironically obsessing over how obsessed they are with us.

I noticed on other clubs forums they go a bit over the top with the titles mind.

Yeah, though I trust our mods to title things properly. We don't need a thread for every team, obviously, but particularly for the most relevant ones for us, it's nice to have a resource to troll them specifically.

Think it's so high because during the 90s they really fucked things up for us, and they dominated for so long so they're our rivals. They're also at a similar level now (we're better though obvs), so it makes sense. I actually hate Liverpool more but it's close, and they're above us atm so we're not gonna be laughing at them as much. In a couple years there'll probably be a big thread on them, and the comments on here will lessen. For now though I love it. Seeing Manure suffer is glorious, having grown up surrounded by them when I was a kid and having the piss taken out of me on a daily basis.

I picked this up on Tinterweb yesterday, as wanted to know more about Ashworths demise - quite interesting listen/watch - makes some valid points about being bad to then get better, but interesting from @10.30 as he talks about INEOS 'putting the boot in' - as in - this is OUR club, we decide what's best - and as they aren't football versed it's causing all of this antagonism. Have a watch and let us know what you think.

Tbf his take seems based, very much, on basic common sense as much as any Intel.

Agreed, it was a good watch. The most striking comment he made came at the end - Ineos don't know what they're doing.

 

The whole set-up at the club strikes me as dysfunctional. The majority owners wanted investment from Ineos, but didn't want to lose control of the club because it's a money-spinner for them. Ratcliffe came to a compromise whereby he'd take a minority stake but supposedly have control over the football side. I think that puts Ratcliffe in a vulnerable position, because he'll have responsibility without ultimate power, but he decided to go along with it because of the attraction, as a fan, of being able to play Football Manager in real life.

 

We had a similar problem with Freddie Shepherd as a fan in the Chairman's seat - the temptation to make decisions based on emotions rather than sound, professional sense. A lot now hinges on whether Ashworth the professional or Ratcliffe the amateur turn out to be right about Amorim. Right from the start, Amorim struck me as a flavour of the month signing and the early signs are that he's struggling to cope. My money is on Ashworth.
