Feel like too much is made of the mid-season thing. That's just how it is, no club really has the luxury of waiting when they need a manager. The only interesting element is that he's been so spectacularly bad it's ruined any goodwill for summer.

I feel like it just suggests that he didn’t want the job enough or wasn’t strong enough to turn it down, and the club weren’t strong enough to move onto another candidate. So reflects badly on both.

Not that we know about serious either party was about it.

Unless he can change things up and figure out a system that suits his players, Amorim is done. They're not going to give him the time or the money he needs to find the players that he needs to suit his particularly rigid system. They look completely and utterly lost trying to set up the way he wants and its quite obvious they dont have the players for it.

He'll continue to slag off everything and everyone at Man Utd and persist with trying to jam his squarest of square pegs into round holes and then they'll fuck him off at the end of the season.

They need to try and rebuild with a pragmatic manager who is able to utilise the players at his disposal, not a coach who will need the correct players to implement their philosophy. Iraola will be out of reach. Thomas Frank or Marco Silva would probably be a shout, aim for a top half finish and then crack on from there. Fuck that though, hopefully their misery continues.

I like that one but I dont think you've lost 20 times in the league yet, have you?

I think we'll definitely be able to use it before the end of the season though

I guess I see this a little bit differently now, especially to the way I saw it after their game vs us back in December. They absolutely rolled over for us then, I’ve never seen a Man United side look so weak and incapable and it was down to the way Amorim set them up. The two in CM was never going to hang with us but he knows that as well as anyone and still went with it anyway. It felt like he was out of his depth, but as the weeks have gone on he’s persevered and it looks different now. Its all by design.

Its high risk but I think he was given the blessing to figure out who he wants to keep by doing it all his way, he’s going to stick by his system and play who he wants when he wants even if it likely means a loss (fortunately for them no danger of relegation). Hes not a stupid coach, he’s very capable and he knows that side will lose most weeks in the PL using his system with their current squad. He’ll get the summer to rebuild, but they will need to kick on from there if he is to stick around. It depends who they can bring in and get rid of, and for what money. Same limitations as everyone else basically, but he’s got a huge job on his hands. It’s a total reset.

He’s publicly lowering expectations constantly, and so far the fans are onboard. If next season they spend and don’t start quickly I think the tide will turn before long though - as it always does.

it doesn’t look that much different though does it? They still get outplayed and defeated in pretty much every game.

What was the fee that Newcastle paid Brighton for Ashworth? Was it £6m in total?

A fair bit less than that, although I’m not sure the actual amount is public knowledge.

Media reports said Brighton initially wanted £5m but ‘a deal was struck’.

Probably a yearly salary for some of the poor sods they booted out recently to cut costs. Such a wasteful club.

Exaclty, most normal persons salary spunked up the wall in a day for Ashworth. Proper jokers.
