Love it that most Man Utd fans have not cottoned on to the fact that Sir Jim is the Manc Mike Ashley (C) Boo Boy. Doing all the glazers work for them so they can take the dividends and relax.

He seems the sort that needs a run of games and to be relied upon as the main man, which will help settle him down as far as the snatching at chances goes.

His finishing and goal record at Benfica was too good to be written off completely.

He was putting away the types of chances we've seen him spurn so often at Liverpool. Don't think being in and out of the team so often helps.

Going to quote this in here so I don't derail the Isak thread. This is a genuine question KaKa, so try and answer honestly.

You're unwilling to write off Nunez and have belief he's going to get it right, yet you are very critical of Hojlund and you're willing to write him off completely.

This is despite Hojlund having a better goals to games ratio at us than Nunez does at Liverpool despite being in and out of a much worse side. He has much less clear cut chances and way less service at us than Nunez does at Liverpool. Most importantly Hojlund is nearly four years younger.

What gives?

Like Isak at Dortmund, Hojlund needs to go and have a few seasons somewhere lower pressure than Manchester United.

He’s got the attributes too be top class but in desperation to get the next big thing lots of these youngsters aren’t being able to finish their footballing apprenticeship if that makes sense. Enzo at Chelsea similar situation imo, careers will suffer from being chucked in too soon.

Also @KaKa you keep sharing loads of fbref references when talking about players, including Hojlund.

You've also taken issue with me saying Elanga isn't good enough, and have referenced this every time he's got an assist this season. There's "not good enough" Elanga etc.

fbref seems to be your go to, so thoughts on this?

Makes for pretty grim reading no?

While trying to justify a potential £50m fee for Elanga, you also said that Elanga at the age of 21, in his first ever season as a first team player in the Premier League finished with 5 goals and 9 assists.

Hojlund at the age of 20, in his first ever season as a first team player in the Premier League finished with 10 goals and 2 assists, despite playing 6 games less.

Thoughts on this also?

To be fair those stats are pretty indicative of a successful winger in the counter heavy system that Forest play, you shouldnt expect it to look much different than that.

(I don’t have a strong opinion on Hojlund either way, so don’t kill me [emoji38])

So Hojlund - a centre forward - scored more but assisted less than Elanga - a winger?

That seems shocking to me :)

Nunez is terrible, like. Will never make it as a top striker in a quality league.

Oh really, what does his fbref say?

Where have I said I believe Nunez is going to get it right? This is not the discussion that was being had.

Nunez has already showed at Benfica what he can do as the main man. He still had his bozo moments but played major minutes week in and week out regardless.

He ended up with 26 goals and 4 assists in 28 league games, and 6 goals in 10 games in the Champions League. He didn't look as skittish there because they just kept playing him regardless. That is what I said. The inconsistent playing time and lack of confidence in him is bringing out the worst in him IMO.

As for Hojlund being written off completely. I'm pretty sure I haven't said that either. However, I cannot see him turning it around at Man Utd. You've put him in a terrible situation.

Hojlund prior to joining you had never been the starting striker for his team in an even half decent league. He has the raw physical attributes and potential, but should not have been thrown straight in at Man Utd. I think that has set him back big time, and he will need to go elsewhere to rebuild his confidence, Man Utd has been terrible for him, as they have been for plenty young players they have failed to nurture.

This isn't about Forest. This is Manchester United.
