The only manager since Fergie who never received the long term support they probably deserved is Moyes, but Moyes was never good enough and I'm glad he was shown the door early. You guys did, just not at the level of Ten Hag. That’s what I don’t understand. Ten Hag has had the most support from you guys since Fergie. And I think most would agree he is probably just better than Moyes and Giggs among all the full time managers. That’s really ridiculous
Zero Posted yesterday at 08:04 Share Posted yesterday at 08:04 9 minutes ago, Froggy said: I put a lot of blame on the players as well, but it's been clear for 6 years Rashford is a huge problem and Ten Hag insisted on playing him over either Garnacho or Amad, who are hungrier and just simply better. Amad has been our most dangerous player this season, yet he brought Antony on before him the other night. In fact, since Amad won our player of the month, he didn't start him for the next four games. He signed Ugarte, but isn't giving him a chance to settle in. He's actually went back to Casemiro and Eriksen instead. What's the point? We sold Wan-Bissaka, because we had a standout performer at right back in Dalot. He then proceeds to move him to left back and put a new signing at right back who's completely comfortable on the left. Dalot has since been very exposed playing out of position and it's clear his confidence was going, and that miss is probably a byproduct of that. The constant swapping on centre backs probably hurt him too. De Ligt and Martinez are by far the best two we have and he was rotating them or subbing them for Jonny Evans in games. ------------------------------------ Thoughts on Amorim. How can you not get excited? Arguably the best appointment available at this time. He plays a completely different system to Ten Hag though so will be another "process." Either way, we aren't going to be any worse. The problem with appointing Amorim is about the funds he could have in transfer market. Yea it’s not his problem but basically Man Utd has no funds left under PSR. He has to utilize the leftover, which is a very difficult job
Sima Posted yesterday at 08:09 Share Posted yesterday at 08:09 3 hours ago, Ben said: How close are Man Utd to the PSR limit ? Apparently sacking Ten Hag and hiring the new bloke will.cost £25 million, I imagine he'll want his own players in January as well. If they're close, they'll just get another "exception allowance" like last time.

That’s really ridiculous I mean, it clearly hasn't worked to flog managers at the rate they have been doing, so it kind of feels like a collective effort from the fans to give him more time than the previous managers to see if that could eventually lead to more consistent performances. They haven't given him more time because it was ETH is my impression.
Lush Vlad Posted yesterday at 10:51 Share Posted yesterday at 10:51 Can't say I have seen much of Sporting. Bar the constant Gyokeres highlights. But I'd be really interested to see the 3-4-3 in the PL and if it work and if so, how many teams follow suit trying similar. The same way so many teams started doing the box midfield with the full backs coming inside after Pep did it. Or how Arteta started playing 4 CB's after Tony Pulis did it Actually looks like they have the right kind of squad for it, as well. Onana to build from the back. Martinez is good on the ball. Dalot is a great attacking full back. Mainoo and Ugarte holding. Plenty of attacking options further up the pitch. Might even get the best out of Rashford....... Annoying that it looks like he is going there. As it is an exciting appointment. @Froggy how come you weren't in for him in the summer when West Ham and Liverpool were heavily linked? But now after 9 more games of awful Ten Hag ball and buying more of his players. He is seen as the right man for the job? That seems a bit odd, to me? We had glaring weaknesses in the squad like CDM, and we needed to address them. We had just beaten City in the cup final, and it was no fluke, with ten Hag setting us up perfectly for it. I think he just bought himself time with cup win and the feeling was that if we signed another quality centre back and CDM that he could progress, but it wasn't to be unfortunately. I think a lot is being made of the signings being his players as well but I don't think it's a big deal and those players will be valuable to any manager. If it is Amorim who comes in, it'll suit Ugarte especially as his best football came under him.

Weren't you actively looking for managers and it was an open secret that Ten Hag was basically on the way out? Then nobody they wanted actually wanted the job. So Ten Hag stayed? Or did every media outlet and supposed ITK just make that up? Also, how incredibly short-sighted to want to keep him off the back of a cup win. When you had game after game across league seasons where performances were all over the place and you had no recognised, discernible style or play and were often incredibly easy to play against. Might work out in the long term, though. If you get Amorim and say he wasn't interested or not available in the summer, but now he is. Then in theory, that was worth keeping ETH around for a bit longer.

Ten Hag is a good manager and a good coach, but he just couldn't get it right, just like other top managers couldn't. Consistency was the issue. We played some brilliant football for twenty minutes, then completely collapsed for the next twenty. I don't think anyone can really put their finger on it. It just shows the insane pressure you're under at this club though. We haven't been an elite club for over ten years yet a 55% win ratio, an average league position of 5.5 out of 20 and two more trophies added to the cabinet is not only seen as bad, but such a disaster to the point where the manager is mocked and ridiculed. It's beyond insane IMO. Edited yesterday at 12:12 by Froggy

Easier to take the job under the Glazers tbh your spending the same sums as you were except ineos seem far more trigger happy.

Did you think you were going to build on the previous seasons and improve year on year? Your goal dif and performances have been terrible a lot of the while, no? I know plenty of Man U fans and not just the usual glory boys. Our office is in Ashton, so quite a few actually from the area So many of them were fed up with it, the style or lack thereof. Baffling decisions with certain players, getting results you didn't really deserve. Ironically this season, when I've seen you. I actually think you've been quite unlucky at times. But the results have gone against you. Felt like a dead man walking for months and was only a matter of time. I am looking at the bigger picture, which is why you won't hear any complaints from me that he's been sacked. I think you've answered some of your own questions to me there as well though. My biggest criticism of him by far was his decisions with certain players. Almost like he was trying to prove a point sometimes and it grated on me. The league finish last season wasn't good, but he brought us two trophies and for that we're grateful. I think he earned the start of this season to try and get it right but it'stime now to move on. Froggy Posted yesterday at 13:09 Share Posted yesterday at 13:09 Rashford is complete dog water by the way, but he insisted on playing him. And on the rare occasions where he did play well, he either took him off or dropped him for the next game. That was a sackable offence on it's own. Who gives a shite about 55% win ratio when you're getting basketball score pummelled by your arch enemies Some simple things Man Utd could do to give the new manager a better chance: Ban Taggart from watching in the stands like the thunder faced Ghost of Trophies Past Ban Gary Neville / Roy Keane / Paul Scholes from commentating / punditting on your games. It's annoying but sometimes amusing for us lot, it must be infuriating for the manager I hope they do neither, obvz Edited yesterday at 13:33 by bobbydazzla
