Fernandes is a great player for a bad team.  I’m not sure he’ll be great in a great team - unless he’s the main man.  He would terrorise Serie A. But he’s not a Real or Barca player

Yeah he might not cut it in Spain. He only managed two hat tricks against Spanish sides this season.

He walks into whatever side he wants.

He’s not good enough for Real or Barca.  His all or nothing style of play wouldn’t translate well in an elite side as part of a team that he’s not the best player of.  Loses the ball too much and can’t carry it.

He can do everything to an elite level. At Real or Barca there would be a lot more quality around him so he wouldn't be forcing the play as much as he has to now, and wouldn't lose the ball anywhere near as much.

It's quite easy to see he would piss it in Spain at Real or Barca. All you need is some eyes. Maybe even one eye would do it.

he would be the main creator in either of Barca or Madrid’s sides I think. I can’t believe he’s wasted this much of his career playing for Man U tbh.

He's still the captain and best player at one of the biggest clubs in the world on £300k a week. He's regularly played in Europe and won a couple of trophies. It hasn't been a hard life.

Of course he cant do ”everything” elite level Froggy and you know it very well. His attacking ability is excellent, he creates loads of opportunities and has a great shot in him.

But he is not very good defensively and not a ball carrier.

of course he would do well at Real, like Bruno G would. There would be so much talent around him. He wouldn’t walk in Real or Barca, but neither would be weaker with him starting I would say.

He’s a brilliant player, has pretty much the best range of passing and crossing in the league, has great vision, strikes the ball exceptionally well. I wouldn’t say he’s bad at carrying the ball but his strengths are all about how he moves the ball on

I bet he expected much more though.

The money is great but after a couple of years how much more money does he really need. I can't stand the prick but he's undoubtedly a great footballer. The trophies he's won with Manchester aren't the ones he'd hoped to be lifting.

This. I’d also say that he is massively inconsistent and lets his head drop too frequently for elite clubs to consider him.

He's excellent at carrying the ball. He's 90th percentile among midfielders for progressive carries per 90 in the league.

As you said, his main strength is his range of passing and we usually have pacey strikers or wingers playing off him, so the gameplan is never carrying the ball towards the opponents box.

Strongly disagree, think he is massively consistent and somehow never gets injured either despite playing more minutes than most.

very questionable whether you have been that whilst he's been at the club tbh. He'd have had a better career if he'd just done a couple of seasons as a springboard to someone like a Madrid, Barca, Bayern, Liverpool or City.

He's a great player whom is so obnoxious no fan of another club will ever give him credit. He's been carrying that team for ages. I do wonder if he likes getting the best player in the team and would disappear in a system led team with others of his talent

Is the massive inconsistency in the room with us Stifler?

The thing is those stats prove nothing other than he has talent. I don’t doubt that he does, but what you’re showing there is that he can have a poor game and come up with something within the game.

It’s no good popping up with a goal or assist if your overall performance has lead to your team losing 2 goals.

Look at this season, he’s scored 8 goals, and assisted 10 times, how’s that worked out for Man Utd in the league?

We have always been a huge club. The success just hasn't been there the last few years.

Of course he'd have had a better career at those teams, but he stayed. if he ever wants to leave I'll never be annoyed at him for it.

Yup. He's been their best player season after season, probably every year since he's been at Man Utd. Hardly ever being injured is part of it and if/when he leaves, he'll be a huge loss.

They would’ve been close to a relegation without him.
