Village Idiot
Has anyone ever fallen from grace as much as Torres? Lance Armstrong? Probably best one, in terms of footballer there are plenty of Brazilians out there. Adriano comes to mind. Rivaldo, Ronaldinho fell as fast as they could as well. Ronaldinho still produced the odd cool youtube clip even in his twilight years. Torres only manages fail memes.

oldtype
Sir Alex was subltly good at ruining players by beating the creativity out of them.
Guest firetotheworks
Aside from Rooney, I don't agree with that. His constant rhetoric has always been that he wants players to 'express themselves'

Flip
Has anyone ever fallen from grace as much as Torres? Every well paid Brazilian ever. This was easily my initial thought, but then again not all paid Brazilians were even good at some point.
Yorkie
Obviously not to the scale of Torres, but you forget how rapidly Robert fell from grace. Absolute goal/assist machine May 2004, looked a seriously quality player... two years later... barely getting a game for relegation-threatened Pompey then pretty much total obscurity afterwards. He couldn't even get pitch time at Derby in that season they finished with record low points.

Similar to Ben Arfa, not managed in the right way and he's a liability. Shouldn't have commented, it's only made me consider how good Ben Arfa would have been under Sir Bobby... Robert had just turned 30 when he left us. His career was always going to naturally decline. Damien Duff on the other hand...signed at 26/27 and was a shadow of who he was at Blackburn & Chelsea.
