Dave
BTW Lyon are three points from an Europa League spot at present. Seven points from the Champions League spots. So a bit closer to Europe than us.
Cajun
No idea how reliable Sky News are but they have just said they believe Grenier is heading to SJP on a permanent deal. Probably just speculation based on what their other channel have been talking about but thought I would post it anyway.
alexf
How accurate is that translation btw? "Nearly" ffs way to keep everyone's hopes alive haha. I suppose looking at it from an optimistic point of view, it probably does his wage negotiations better if the club have to persuade him to join rather than him saying he'd love to come before they even offer terms? All bollocks anyway he's not joining and never was
Guest neesy111
Guessing we haven't been tapping up or finding players with release clauses like we have in the past or people are telling us where to do one.

Did it sound like new information as in they think a deal has been done and he's coming or is it just a rehash of SSN's 'we believe a £8.5m bid has been made? Dave
It's a load of horseshit anyway. If we are genuinely close to getting him, why not wait until he signs? All this song and dance wank leaked to SSN is pathetic. Fits the 'but we tried!' blueprint perfectly.

Pilko
Nothing really matters til the bid is either rejected or accepted tbh.
Dave
Nothing really matters til the bid is either rejected or accepted tbh. Maybe they'll reject it when it's too late for us to do anything about it. That would be a real surprise.

oldtype
For all we know the bid has been accepted and he's on his way, for all we know the bid was rejected within ten seconds of being submitted. There's really no point in stressing over nonsense in the media. The actual process is a black box that neither them nor us have any access to. I can't remember the exact wording but it was basically "The big news today is Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye has moved to one of the richest clubs in the world PSG, Newcastle have signed Luuk De Jong on loan for the season and we believe Grenier is heading to St James Park on a permanent deal". I am sure they won't know more than SSN so if it hasn't been mentioned there they are just doing a lazy round up of sports news.
Dave
Mark Douglas @MsiDouglas Worrying quotes from Grenier tonight suggesting deal is nearly dead. He's #nufc ONLY Jan target at the moment, as I understand it. Bid placed earlier; player (or those close to him) seemed to suggest he wanted deal. But 10million Euro bid not enough. #nufc now considering whether to table another bid but its all gone quiet. That money might well roll over to the summer, you know...
