alpal78 Posted November 1, 2014 Share Posted November 1, 2014 As much as I like him, he's never gonna be able to play up top on his own. He's a goal poacher and one who can probably make diagonal runs for through balls. But here's the thing that is exactly what Pardew's teams don't do. Our attacking play is basically hit the ball to one of the channels and hope our wingers get there first before the opponents' full backs. Alternatively lump ball to the forward which is never gonna stick with Ayoze up front. At times, it was sad seeing him struggle for high balls against center backs almost twice his size. If he doesn't get the lucky breaks in the box his goals will dry up to (and of course Pardew will blame him that he's not working hard enough).
