Africa 'Copa' of Nations 2015 - Ivory Coast Champions

WOW!!

Gyan steals a 1-0 victory at the death for Ghana over Algeria. Blazes past Algeria's incredibly slow centrebacks to reach a long ball and smashes past Mbolhi. Ghana back to life and the group wide open again. Big chance for Cisse and Senegal tonight to put themselves in good position, though a win would not see them through.

Aye, age is a big issue with us and will be a reason we'll definitely look to sell over the course of the next 12 months rather than offering Cisse a new contract.  But plenty of other clubs just aren't that bothered.  Doubt we're desperate to sell this January, but we'll likely want him gone by the end of next summer.

All draws in group D

The number of 1-1 draws in this tournament is remarkable. Of the 16 matches, 8 have ended in 1-1 draws. So, there hasn't been a deluge of goals, but at least the final matchday should be very tight with interesting permutations. After two matches, no one is through, no one is out.

Group A deciders currently on Eurosport/Eurosport 2.

After two games:

Congo +1 5pts

Gabon +1 4pts

Eq Guin 0  3pts

B Faso -2  2pts

Half an hour gone:

Gabon 0-0 Equatorial Guinea (Eurosport)

Congo 0-0 Burkina Faso (Eurosport 2)

Predictably 0-0 in both games at HT. Not enough goals in this tournament.

Finally a bit of excitement and drama in the second halves. I suppose that's the benefit of all the sides being still involved in the last round of matches. Hosts Equatorial Guinea got through with a 2-0 win over Gabon.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso lost 2-1 to Congo but, having equalised with two or three minutes left and needing another goal to progress, promptly lost a scruffy one at the other end. Equatorial Guinea and Congo through.

Only watched the other game (and even then only the second half) so was struggling to understand how Chipolopolo and Cape Verde managed a goalless draw when a goal either side would send one through and a score draw would probably send Cape Verde through. Now I understand:

Apparently, there were cyclone-esque rains of biblical proportions. Embarrassment that the match was not abandoned.
