Most Londoners (and fans in general) have at least a soft spot for NUFC fans because they know we're so passionate about the club and we have (well had) a reputation for attacking football. You must be living in the West End or something because to characterize a city with a population larger than many countries including Scotland, Botswana and others all as, "up their own arse twats" is utter crap. I have lived in Southampton for about 6 weeks now and have been made as welcome as a fart in an astraunaut suit on more than one occasion whilst out and about. Same as when I lived in Shropshire, and then from visiting other places. Yes the country has pricks including in the NE, but it's just not the same 'atmosphere' especially surrounding football/bars. The cockney thing makes me cringe, it's like every Londoner is a cockney on here. Cockney culture has been and gone, and London has a variety of different people, accents and backgrounds. If I'm totally honest sometimes I feel a bit ostracised as a NUFC fan when I see phrases like 'cockney Mafia out' and 'southern boys' club' uttered with the same neglect and flippancy as those who chastise the North east. Talking purely about the media though there's a pretty clear difference in the broad reporting of Newcastle than sone other clubs, Tottenham probably the best example.
