Yorkie Posted Monday at 15:56 Share Posted Monday at 15:56 Quote Newcastle view the deal as a real success in the current financial climate, with the front-of-shirt market having been depressed by changes to regulations around promoting gambling companies. Several Premier League clubs are still searching for new headline sponsors and Newcastle insiders, having benchmarked the deal, believe the value of the KNOX partnership belies the downturn in the market, especially given it was negotiated so late that the cut-off point for the brand to be on the new home shirt had long passed. You can choose not to believe this angle on it in favour of perpetual misery, but it sounds canny enough to me.

Conjo Posted Monday at 16:02 Share Posted Monday at 16:02 Where do these companies come from, and how tf can they afford to spunk £60-70-80m on a shirt sponsorship? Literally never heard of Knox before. Never heard of Sela either before they became our sponsor, or that yellow sleeve sponsor for that matter. The sponsorship market must be depressed to some extent, a few clubs have struggled to get deals. In boom times people would be queuing up to pay millions for the front of a PL shirt. Well Sela is PIF, not sure where Knox get their money from.
ToonAbroad Posted Monday at 16:05 Share Posted Monday at 16:05 Other benefit of not being PIF/APT is that UEFA won't disregard the revenue in their calculations.
timeEd32 Posted Monday at 16:05 Share Posted Monday at 16:05 The training ground deal helps offset the damage a bit in year 1. Years 2 and 3 are solid if you accept the difficult conditions narrative (which we'll see from other clubs). The worst part of this deal is it's perfectly constructed to fit anyone's narrative of the club whether positive or negative. Let the debates commence. It’s fairly obvious they’ve found it difficult to get a bigger deal than sela and shirt sponsorship market is on the way down (Villa, Chelsea & I think Forest) all without a sponsor yet. Add in the fact the Sela deal was signed with CL football, we no longer have CL football. I can’t express to be an expert but I imagine it’s the best we were likely to get

Kanj Posted Monday at 16:10 Share Posted Monday at 16:10 with all due respect, 10m a year for sponsorhsip of front of shirt for our club of our ambitions and size isn't great. need to see where rest of market shakes out for a fair comparison, also need to be realistic - we missed out on europe. Also can add in training ground + training kit sleeve sponsorship for this year + the 10m and save thats good coin from this company for this year and will be much higher next year. Likewise we have owners that could have continued sponsoring us front of shirt for a similar rate as to what they already did. Owners not doing that isn’t a positive indicator.
