Mbappe has 12 world cup goals already including a hat trick in a final so specialist sprinter isn't really fair mind

It was a bit tongue in cheek to be fair, but he isn't a scratch on any of France's best forwards in the past 20-30 years.

Football has changed - he isn't playing against the calibre of players that likes of Henry, Anelka, Trezeguet, Wiltord etc were.

This is from the same guy who said Mbappe bottles the big moment, despite scoring 3 times in the last WC final. Take it with a pinch of salt

The final fuck you from the Euros, Bet365 refused to honor my 50 free spins because they were looking out for my welfare, I could put my own money in though if I wanted.

If the FA want Howe they'll need to come straight up and offer him the job. No point of them trying to get him to wait for an interview process etc. That would put his job here in jeopardy as well as not being guaranteed the job there.

Will definitely be Carsley who gets the gig, it's the FA way now with how it's all set up. The succession plan and all that. Be extremely underwhelming and will more than likely be more of the same.

I see lots of posts about how England have this wonderful group of players and are just waiting for a better manager than Southgate before they win everything. I think too many people are equating the high standards seen in the premier league with the actual talent many of the current English players have. First of all technically many of the players we have are  no better than average when compared with the players that Spain, France, Argentina, Brazil etc. have. All of the Spanish substitutes were way better technically than anybody we had on the pitch. Playing the devil's advocate:

No goalkeeper depth outside of Pickford at all at the moment.

Walker needs replacing, by who Tino? That's a big ask.

Apart from Shaw at LB there's nobody half decent. Hall, that's another big ask.

Middle of the defence, none of them are at the level of the choice the top nations have

Rice, showed all his limitations in this tournament, not an international standard midfielder at the highest level

Mainoo who knows but completely invisible during the games that mattered.

Wharton, nobody's really seen him play so currently he has the  highest ceiling

Bellingham, Foden and Kane all played in the same position, that's on the manager. Kane is finished, Foden has never played well for England, and Bellingham needs to find some discipline and a position.

Neither Toney or Watkins are good enough to replace Kane at the highest level but someone has to.

Saka has serious potential but his play is very predictable. Palmer plays in the same position.

Eze didn't play much but was terrible when he did.

Gordon didn't play at all, so who knows.

I don't see a group of players that are going to beat the better teams. Hopefully Eddie see's it the same way.

Foden, Mainoo and Bellingham are all technically excellent, Saka and Palmer too. Stones is very good technically in defence. There’s not an issue with individual quality in the squad, it’s fantastic and much better than at any other time in my life. In the Lampard-Gerrard days we had a bunch of players who weren’t technically gifted but were strong or fast. That’s completely changed

If you’d written that at any point during the 50 years prior to around 2020 I would have been nodding in agreement.  But it isn’t so at present - nothing to do with the relative strength of the PL.  This England team is built from the international youth sides that have won trophy after trophy, and England has a gamut of technically able footballers.  You don’t need eleven superstars to win international tournaments.

Fuck having that background noise going on into September. Need to set Mad Dog on the FA

You'd imagine Howe will have communicated his intentions by then.

Yeah, I don’t buy this at all. Technically, English players have moved on enormously in the past 10 years or so. We have 6-7 top quality players in that squad who are as technically sound, gifted even, as anything Spain put out on the pitch.

When people talk about Man City, who is credited for making them amazing - Pep. Man United’s dominant reign? Fergie. Chelsea’s dominant reign? Mourinho. Etc.

when teams are excellent the manager is hailed, when they’re shit people start talking nonsense about the players. Southgate is a tactically-poor, risk-adverse manager with no discernible style of play and a weak character, pandering to players like Kane and ignoring better options in favour of his little golden boys. He can’t win big games and his record against more tactically astute managers is shit.
Good managers make teams better than the sum of their parts. Shit ones make groups of talented players look wank!

IMO all the Spanish players apart from Cucarella were technically superior to the players we had out there including Laporte who is playing in Saudi. Nothing knew there Spain has always pretty much had the most technically gifted players. Compare Foden with Bernardo Silva there is literally no comparison, Bellingham is big, strong and difficult to play against but I don't see someone with great technical ability. Mainoo was so poor against Spain he might have not been on the pitch, the game passed him by completely. Southgate's muudled thinking and lack of high level coaching ability certainly didn't help.

Press and fans were turning or dying to turn for dropping Gascoigne then came the Eileen Drury stuff at France 98, little bit for not playing Beckham and then losing to Sweden in the first game of Euro2000 qualifying.

Born for the job probably, if that's not being a bit too Hoddleish.

If you don’t think Bellingham has great technical ability then we are never going to agree on who has :)
