ujpest doza
At least he has something to talk about tonight Was probably the real reason for him going on the show.

Guest firetotheworks
All it really means is that Ashley will get a fee for him.

Yorkie
Or probably insertion of a relegation clause. Oh aye, there's that too.

marki
you always feel theres an ulterior motive with developments such as this as far as nufc goes..at least nowadays
HaydnNUFC
It's most likely revised financial terms/wages or whatever. Given that he signed a contract last year that would've ran to 2023 making him sign another 6 year deal to maximise his transfer fee doesn't make that much sense. But nothing does under Ashley. NG32
This is nothing to do with building the club long term, this in reaction to possible rumours of teams sniffing about Lascelles. They've done this for yonks now.

I would imagine it’s an almost identical contract with an increased relegation clause fee. Lascelles probably gets another 20k a week for signing it in the meantime. Paully
Seems bizarre this when he only signed a new six year contract 13 months ago?!
NG32
Wonder how much his release clause is? 40 million and Mike Williamson coming back to cover until the summer.

Odear
Interesting. It’s either a gesture to boost moral with the squad or.. he knows something we don’t. Or there’s the possibility he has no ambition and has just settled for being squad captain here, has no interest in winning titles and just wants to pick up a decent wage until he’s well into his 30’s. (which in itself is a smart move if financial security and family stability is important)
loki679
Has to be release clauses. Either a standard release or a relegation release that we now feel is too low. Probably relegation since we might not have thought we'd be in bother.
Ikon
It's sad, because in a perfect world, or at least in a decent one under a reasonably ambitious owner this would be absolutely amazing news in so many ways. Would of been a massive first step in the right direction, yeah should of been... It's just meh, whatever now, unfortunately

Darth Crooks
I have to be cynical, there’s a video accompanying it with him buttering up home support - it’s no coincidence.
Big Geordie
Another PR move by the club. They are worried about the upcoming protests, IMO. Make no mistake, Lascelles will be sold in the summer if we are relegated.
