ElDiablo
Did this boil down to one's word against another essentially? Hard to think he'll be found guilty on such a basis.
huss9
Rafa mention this in his press convo? he has mentioned last week that if shelvey is found guilty we do have alternative plans in place and i'm sure he also mentioned a tweek to the formation. Big Geordie
Next Tuesday morning I bet, so Shelvey can't play v Hull.
afar
Next Tuesday morning I bet, so Shelvey can't play v Hull. His availability I feel will be key in if we go through or not.
Ikon
http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/14924996.Jonjo_Shelvey_set_to_face_Blackburn_as_Newcastle_wait_for_heading_date/? Nothing new really. I hope he doesn't get suspended for the Hull game because of a yellow card on saturday at least.
nemtizz
He should have gotten it out the way vs. Leeds. We'd have been fine against Blackburn without him. Canny jinx, that.
frankpingel
Amnesty for five bookings is 30th November so he's got two matches to avoid being booked. I've a feeling he won't start against Hull anyway so a booking on Saturday would be irrelevant.

If he is fit and not suspended he will start.

frankpingel
Be interesting, as usual, to see how he's used in these two games. Honestly had forgotten he'd started cup games, even though I was there.
JP
Didn't he come on fairly early against Preston too?
frankpingel
Think so, but I was just getting the point across that Rafa might not be planning to start him in the cup game anyway. Although I'm fully in the let's go for it camp.
Marmoset
Maybe im being overly confident about the league, but Id gladly drop 3 points at Blackburn to play our first team in the cup, the same with any of the possible future rounds.
prefabtoon
The FA being the bunch of idiots they are didn't expect Jonjo to have a witness & contend the charge, so now it boils down to he said this & the witness saying he didn't say that my gut feeling is the best QC in the land can't get you off an FA charge
Stifler
The FA being the bunch of idiots they are didn't expect Jonjo to have a witness & contend the charge, so now it boils down to he said this & the witness saying he didn't say that my gut feeling is the best QC in the land can't get you off an FA charge Well the FA's rules are open to interpretation, and there is no definitive example of breaking the rules, and as it's not a matter of UK law then having a QC wouldn't make any difference. QC's are used to fighting actual laws where if omitted it's either right or wrong, which is a lot easier to fight than whatever agenda the FA have at any one time. Paully
I’m no legal eagle but how on earth can you be convicted if they don’t have any evidence (assuming that!) and it’s basically your word plus the word of someone else supporting you versus the word of one person?! Why did this Wolves player not react to this supposed racist abuse on the pitch when it happened? I’d be going crackers if I heard someone say it about one of my team-mates!
