Pardew played him left wing against Everton a few seasons ago and hauled him off at half time when we were 3-0 down I think and he didn't get much of a look in after it. Just a case of Pardew picking up a player in form and hoping they can continue it for him, just like most of the players he's signed for Palace who did well for us. Guest Howaythetoon Posted December 17, 2016 Share Posted December 17, 2016 I'll tell you what I liked about Townsend... it was his pace, ball carrying ability and his goal threat even if he wasn't scoring or creating. He threatened the opposition. Our game would improve massively with someone like him on our flanks. We could play counter attacking football at will. I think the loan signing of Atsu was done with that in mind and he may eventually feature more as the season wears on and we are closer to the target of promotion.
