Chelsea 5-1 Newcastle United - 13/2/16 post match discontent from pg. 36

Recommended Posts

In the pre-match interview our wonderful Steve spoke about how we must pass the ball and retention.

In the first sixty seconds three times we passed it back to Elliot for him to hoof it aimlessly upfield.

The players look completely devoid of confidence and either they don't agree with how they're being setup to play, or are just completely ignoring it.

Either way we're boned like this.

There's a lot of negatives to playing shelvey defensively, our midfield looks for more open which when we have a shambles of a defense is basically an own goal.

We are so nervy and devoid of confidence away from home. That can only come from the approach. He's got to go tomorrow.

Agreed. One of many defeatist managers we've had here over the last 11 years.

Cant really have a go at him this match IMO. They're defensive mistakes

Still as thick as a castle wall I see.

Hows he to blame specifically? He's playing a higher defensive line, but we wanted that given we've been too defensive in recent away games & Costa is hardly known for his pace. Still he's beaten two of our defenders to through balls & the other was a defensive error. Yet if we sit back, they'd just come onto us.

Whats your smart assessment mate? Beyond the usual nonsense about everyone being stupid.

Mitrovic really is not that good, not even attempting to win a header today

He's against John Terry and the ball is floating way over his head, f*** all he can do.

Shearer would be doing all he could to give himself space, if it means a bit of grappling then so be it, Mitrovic has the height and build but doesn't know how to use it.
