Wonder if the Fat Man will fancy a little punt on a high scoring London born striker from a financially struggling NE club.

Think he played Defoe because he had too, simply for goals. Don't think he's someone he'd go out and sign unfortunately. Sure before Defoe started scoring he was out wide and not happy with fat head.

To be fair to the mackems he's probably worth whatever the cost of relegation would be because without him they'd be 100% relegated.

Agree, be interesting if Short would take £15 million

If he asks to leave they'll take £5m imho. If he wants to stay they won't sell. If he's unhappy it impacts his game and then there's no point in having him. He's got 2.5 years left on a £75kpw contract, it's whether someone will match that...he's always been about the money.

Be interesting to see what they do this window, fair play to Moyes for dragging them back in to a relegation fight as it was becoming a certainty.

This ^ basically. Without him they might as well just change the badges on their shirts to Championship ones.

Aren't the papers just putting 2 + 2 together.  West Ham have said they need a striker and the mackems seem like they need to reduce the wage bill.

6 million for defoe,  worth it if he keeps you up but if sunderland sell them thats their death nail.  Theyll get no one as good as Defoe for 6 million quid.  Suicide move byt if he wants to go...

I think he may want one last move back home.he will see another relegation battle next season as a chore.even at his wages someone will take him, i think he will put up with it till the end of the season then go.no way will Sunlun let him go, no way not in Jan.

All down to the player now though isn't it. If he wants to go he is as good as gone. Clubs won't keep an unhappy player. He must be absolutely sick there by now like. Chance to move back to London and guaranteed premiership football next season

If he does go, his mam had better watch her letterbox.
