loki679
I dunno, it's fun watching them finally drop like a fossilized turd but the state of NE football takes a bit away from the enjoyment.
bhoywhonder
That display in the Gallowgate last night seems to have wound them up no end if the twitter reaction is anything to go by. Perhaps they need to realise that releasing 2,000 Greggs wrappers onto the pitch whilst taking a dump on their pink seats can’t really be classed as choreographed tifosi…
Benwell Lad
I dunno, it's fun watching them finally drop like a fossilized turd but the state of NE football takes a bit away from the enjoyment. I've noticed a bit of a mackem trait over the last few years that when they feel they've got the upper hand it's about Sunderland and Newcastle, but when it's the other way round they like to lump all NE clubs together in a collective malaise. While there is no doubt that the region's other two main clubs continue to under perform and could do a lot better, their situation really is something very different and much worse. Their's is financially catastrophic and potentially terminal and while they are not happy with what is going on on the pitch it probably pales into insignificance against what is happening off it. Guest firetotheworks
Read a quote from Coleman about the whole thing the other day where he said something along the lines of "it's not my job to motivate players"...eh aye it is.
Willow
15 years ago today, Charlton Athletic won 3-1 away at Sunderland in the Premier League. Sunderland scored all four goals, including three own goals in seven minutes.

Figures 1-0 Football
In Lee Camp (Loan from Cardiff) Jake Clarke-Salter (Loan from Chelsea) Ovie Ejaria (Loan from Liverpool) Ashley Fletcher (Loan from Middlesbrough) Kazenga LuaLua (Free, 6 month contract) Out Tom Beadling (Loan to Dunfermline – but out of contract at end of season) Mika Domingues (released) Lewis Grabban (Loan terminated) Didier Ndong (Loan to Watford with “certain criteria” purchase obligation) James Vaughan (Wigan, reported £300K They’ve got such a good chance of going down. ponsaelius
Getting Camp and Fletcher in late last night might give them a fighting chance, simply because of how bad their other keepers are and the fact they had no other centre forward. However neither of those players are anything more than low end Championship players.
xLiaaamx
Fletcher's never shown anything to suggest he's championship level. 5 goals at Barnsley in league 1 at the same time as Ivan Toney was there is what got him the West Ham move. Then No goals in 16 for them, and 1 in 16 for Boro.
Figures 1-0 Football
Not convinced Fletcher will chip in with anywhere near what Grabban did, based on the fact that his current record is 6 goals in 53 appearances (5 of them in League 1) They’ve also failed to sort out their appalling defence, it’s absolutely glorious. ponsaelius
I'm not saying he's any good, but the fact that at the very least he's played for England at youth level and somehow cost £7 million in the summer puts him ahead of Josh Maja and Joel Asoro. If it wasn't for those two signings I'd have put them at 100% certain to gown.
afar
Looking at their table, there are 3 points between the bottom six, with a little gap to the rest. You would think it will be three from those: Burton, Mackems, Bolton, Brum, Hull and Barnsley. Surprisingly enough only Hull of those have scored more than the mackems, it seems like the problem they have is conceding, with Burton only letting in more than them. Camp wasn't getting a game at Cardiff, so not sure he's going to really fix all those problems, and this Fletcher kid is nowhere near the goal threat Grabban was for them, they are weaker up front for sure.
