A lot of the players here this season were bought for this division. It shouldn't be that much of a shock that they won't be good enough to do much in the premier league. Despite losing yesterday we are going up, so job done basically. There'll be big changes to the squad next season and that's when we'll see a real Rafa team.

Exactly. Sick of seeing people whinging their tits off about the lack of Premier League quality. That isn't an issue until August and will be massively irrelevant if we strengthen as we should.

This argument falls a bit flat when you consider that of the 4 players we have arguably of PL quality, 3 of them were bought last summer 'for this division'.

You can understand people being little uncomfortable with the fact we basically need to buy at least 7 players for the starting Xl. It's not ideal when you're taking into account the need for immediate team cohesion.

Even if we were preparing for this division to a certain extent with players like Murphy and Hanley, we also have the likes of Shelvey, Yedlin and Gayle who have a great chance to step up. We managed to do both things at once in one transfer window, which is pretty positive. Some players obviously fall between the two, but if we repeat last summer we should end up with a very respectable team.

Buy 'at least 7 players' for what?

Hopefully we do but if we bring in 4/5 quality first teamers Rafa will have us fairly comfortable.

I'm sure we'd have liked better players coming in last summer, but probably not that easy to attract to the championship. In January those above Rafa decided we could do without strengthening, not much he could do about that.

What in the christing fuck does that have to do with anything I've said there?

Yeah, last summer we made a massive profit selling our best players. I'd love that to happen again.

Come on man, at least attempt to have a normal conversation.

You can't relate what happened last summer to what needs to be done this time round. We need a complete diversion from every single window we've ever had under Ashley, basically.

I know what you mean,  but there are parallels. We have a very specific job, prepare for a new division. That will entail quite a major overhaul of the squad, with plenty going in and out.

Preparing for the PL is obviously more difficult, but last summer we did at least show that we would allow Rafa to prepare properly for the task at hand. Big test with the money involved this time of course.

People totally overestimate the gap in quality between the two leagues.

7 new first teamers needed ffs

By all means tell us which of our players beyond the obvious 4 are PL quality. I think that would be a lot funnier.

You could look at the Burnley starting XI from yesterday and do the same. You're a smart enough lad to know football doesn't work like that.

Part of the reason I've been happy for Rafa to play so conservatively this year, everyone will be ready to do the same again but with better players.

I think the fact that Burnley came up with a worse squad, only spent about £30m and still have a very bang average squad but are sitting comfortably in 12th position proves that you don't need a complete overhaul when promoted.

West Brom sitting in 8th position with a very average squad and very little "PL quality".

Outside the top 6 the PL is littered of squads with very little quality, our current squad would go up and survive in that league under Rafa (as would Brighton's).

£30m net spend tops, guarantee it.

That would mean Rafa resigning though I reckon. Given we won't bring in many big fees, if any.

It's that old chestnut again. There's been talk that Ashley will give Rafa the backing he wants, but we'll only find out in the summer. But yeah, I can't see Rafa hanging around if he's not given the funds to build a decent premier side. He'll want a competitive side next season with a view to hitting the top 6 the season after. That's my opinion any way, he isn't a manager whose prepared to drift along midtable for long.

Burnley's momentum has played a huge part of their success this season, they'll go down next season.

think ashley will try and roll the dice again, try and string Rafa along with promises, and go into the season with around a 40-50m spend- net 30m-  so looking to offload 10-20m.

Ashley will think hes doing enough with that- based on?  the last 10 years.
