3 out?? Three Loans: Sels, Armstrong, Toney. Eight Gone: Anita, Guoffran, Mbabu, Ameobi, Murphy D., de Jong, Rivière, and Hanley (ish).

Rafa's only been here for a year and a half, so the transformation of the squad, esp. in terms of deadwood out, has been very impressive.

Any #10's in Holland we can dream about for an hour or two?

He will be flying into Schiphol, then no doubt flying on somewhere else from there. Don't think it will be a Dutch player he is going to talk too.

He is Ajax no. 10, their main driver for the Euro Cup run, the core #10 and speciaist at free kick.

It really makes a lot of sense going for him, except that he is from the physically weakest league in the world...

Why Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez was on a flight to Switzerland this morning

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez flew to a UEFA coaching forum on Tuesday morning

BY MARK DOUGLAS11:18, 30 AUG 2017UPDATED11:21, 30 AUG 2017

Rafa Benitez was on a flight out ofNewcastle this morning to attend the UEFA Elite Club Coaches Forum – a gathering of some of the biggest names in world football in Switzerland.

Benitez is hoping United do some late business in the transfer window but that hasn’t stopped him accepting an invitation to attend the 19th edition of the “elite” forum – which is chaired by Sir Alex Ferguson.

It is a mark of Benitez’s standing in the game that he is one of the coaches invited, with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, Barcelona chief Ernesto Valverde and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinhoalso invited to the forum.

UEFA say the meeting “provides an opportunity for top European club coaches to exchange views on the major issues affecting European club competitions, as well as to discuss and make proposals to UEFA that may be of overall benefit to the European game.”

Benitez is a keen student of the game and is heavily involved in mentoring other coaches. With his CV, experience and honours list it’s little surprise that he’s been invited and he is rubbing shoulders with some of the game’s great and good in Nyon this afternoon.

Here are the other attendees:

– Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus FC)

– Eduardo Berizzo (Sevilla FC)

– Sergio Conceição (FC Porto)

– Unai Emery (Paris Saint-Germain)

– Bruno Génésio (Olympique Lyonnais)

– Leonardo Jardim (AS Monaco FC)

– José Mourinho (Manchester United FC)

– Maurizio Sarri (SSC Napoli)

– Ernesto Valverde (FC Barcelona)

– Rui Vitoria (SL Benfica)

– Zinédine Zidane (Real Madrid CF).

It is part of a day of UEFA summits. The European football body reports there will also be a round-table disucssion with former players involving UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

“Players in attendance include Xabi Alonso, Deco, Leonardo, Peter Schmeichel, Clarence Seedorf, Dejan Stanković, David Trezeguet and Javier Zanetti,” they confirm.

Even though Benitez will be in Switzerland, he’s still pushing for more additions at Newcastle head into a hectic final 48 hours of the transfer window.

As if you wouldn't just give the fucker every resource you have when he's held in such high regard. So frustrating we will be back to Pardew who rubs shoulders with the Grayson's, Warnock's and Bruce's of this world PFM assemble

Hakim Ziyech.

Frenkie De Jong looks like he'll be an excellent player, too. Perhaps not as a classic #10 but very comfortable on the ball.

Stay well away from the De Jong's of this world please.

Ajax apparently in talks to bring Nigel De Jong back, too.

Potential for a midfield full of them there
