Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

I'd say they are about the same but before his injury Wilson looked suited to the Prem more than Gayle imo. Younger as well. Not seen him this season or since the injury, knee wasn't it? Hope its not touched his pace. Tbh really can't see why they'd sell, must be a decent fee (probably a club record for us)

But aye, end of Mitro.

How he's recovered is key- he was all about chasing lost causes, putting pressure on backpasses and on fullbacks- much as Gayle tries to do but it's too much for one man. They could work well together.

It'll be one or the other, both won't ever start together.

I know I kinda poo-pooed the idea the other day but I've come around to the idea of Snodgrass if he's available. He would be a good option for the next 18 months (including a hypothetical, consolidatory PL campaign next season). Technique, delivery, goals from midfield, runs into the ground. Just a shame he isn't very quick.

I'd have no issue with Snodgrass only for that he's best suited to play RM, so would force Ritchie out wide left and we'd have 2 non-pacy wingers (although both with good technique and delivery) and Atsu.

Just signed a new contract with Hull so I doubt we will be chasing him still.

Would like us to consider Lewis Baker alongside Loftus-Cheek.

Think he has 10 goals already this season. Chelsea have so many good young players who won't all become first team players for them - Baker, Loftus-Cheek, Solanke, Abraham etc.

Wasn't Rafa quoted as saying he on,y wants proven pre ire ship quality this window, which would rule out both Higan and Wilson. Think we need to sort out the midfield first anyway, absolutely no creativity for whichever striker we want to sign.

It's something I've never gotten like, the argument that basically every signing you make has to be some up and coming wonderkid or someone who instantly walks into your side and improves you ten-fold. You can be pretty certain that any signing we make now in their mid 20s and beyond is made for an actual reason. Ie Rafa has identified them as being necessary. Whether that's for the dressing room, as back-up, or to slot right in. We're not just randomly signing people for no apparent reason.

Just about all of our signings this season have been made with one priority in mind and that's promotion. There'll probably be a complete overhaul if we go up. but Rafa won't care, his objective will have been achieved.

We love to waste money mind

What?

You don't believe we've wasted money?

When? And who cares?

Well we've spent like 130m in the last 2 seasons

Well I care, we aren't made of money man and unlike last season we don't necessarily have as many saleable assets

Scott Hogan:

I hope not. I must admit I haven't seen Hogan much at all but i'd still hope we'd be aiming for a bit higher level of quality than him and Wilson.

How do you know his 'level of quality' if you haven't seen him?
