Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Even when Lukaku goes there to replace Costa, why would Chelsea flog their #2 striker?

They wouldn't flog him, they'll loan him out to develop him.

So they'll have to buy another striker, or trust Tammy Abraham.

Quite possible. Not like they can't afford it.

Can't see us having any chance of signing Batshuayi on loan until the Diego Costa situation is sorted out at Chelsea.  Big money involved so it could drag on all summer, i wouldn't want us be waiting until to end of the window to get a striker in.

For this plan to work, it might be an idea to first sign a #10 who can also play as a lone striker, Josh King being the name put forward.

For the same reason, I like the idea of Cairney since he could play in the two or fill in as AM.

On principle I'm against the likes of Chelsea stockpiling Europe & England's top youth talent, only to loan them out to EPL sides (to develop & evaluate them in the top flight). I oppose the system, so it's a No from me ie. Batsuhayai.

Still think Lukaku could backfire for a top club. His linkup play is poor and he's very streaky.

Agreed. He might develop into Drogba Mk 2, but he's nowhere near that yet.

Means we have the funds to go out and improve on them both.  I like Anita as well, but this is actually good news

Doubt Sterry and Yedlin will be enough so no doubt Rafa will be going shopping.

Would have kept Anita - going to cost a fair amount of money to get in a player to replace him when we've got far more important issues to resolve. As others have said, hopefully it means Rafa has a lot of money to spend.

Anita's been good this season, but overall he's another waste of money. Good riddance to both of them.

Not Premier League players tbf. If we can get a few mil for them we'll have done well.

leaving on a free - their contracts are up.

Underwhelming to say the least.

Not sure i would call it underwhelming - both Gray and King have had their best seasons and are young enough to improve.  They both also seem to have a lot of the attributes that Rafa requires from his forward players.  I understand why it is more appealing to go for a potentially exciting player from another league, but i think in our position I would be looking to go for players who have experience of the league.

I agree to a extent and I may be in a minority but from what I've seen of Gray, I don't really seen an improvement on what we've already got with Gayle, unless we're taking staying fit into account.

It also concerns me that we're targetting Gray to come in as a potential replacement for Gayle, rather than looking at more of a bigger type striker to fill the role that Mitro/Murphy occupy.

Why is that a concern? If we have two competent options in Gray and Gayle fighting to start then that means we won't have to start either Mitrovic or Murphy.

Don't think Rafa wants a big man in anything other than a 'substitute when we're chasing the game' role and Murphy or Mitro are both perfectly adequate for that.
