It might be more to do with squad places and having too many players around training than the money itself. Used to play for Birmingham and a few others. I think he had a spell at Hull too and has since done boxing but I can't say i've ever looked at his record for calling transfers unfortunately. On the few occasions I saw him last season he looked much better than the Crammy Cabaye. More mobile, better range of passing and generally more aggression. Been trying to find the article I read about him that analysed his performance from a stats perspective and it basically said the 'hype' about him was completely misguided.
