Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Joselu close to yous.

How bothered are you about potentially losing him?

A bit disappointed to be honest mate.

He's a decent player. His record looks poor on paper (something like 5 goals in 25 appearances) but that doesn't take into account the amount of times he's played a full 90, with the majority of his apps being from the bench. He went out on loan last season to Deportivo and performed well albeit a long injury.

100% should've been given more of a chance at Stoke but unfortunately Hughes' complete incompetence at managing strikers correctly, which is terribly ironic considering how good Sparky was in his prime, meant he became a bit of a scapegoat when things were going wrong in the final third.

Not at all surprised we've let him go mind, Stoke have been actively looking for a buyer for a year now, but I am surprised we've let him go for £5m tbh and under a manager that can use strikers correctly I can only assume he'll turn out to be a very shrewd signing for yous.

Rafa on the BBC when asked about if he was expecting a busy week off the field this week: "I don't really know, we have to see if we can do our job but... we don't know".

:anguish:

But when I insinuate that he's not a happy camper in his interviews, I get lols, hmm I see how that works.

You're mental. Night.

Not debating that, good night dude, least I've got GOT to look forward to later, the senseless murder and violence should hopefully cheer me up and I'll be back to my usual bouncy self tomorrow.

Don't want Wiltshere, hardly tore the league up with Bournemouth and injured half the time. I also can't see too much reason why he would succeed here and not at bournemouth, maybe Rafa's more positionally disciplined style would get him to do more, I dunno?

I don't think we are really in the position to be picky tbh, 6 weeks ago I'd probably agree with you.

Hope even if Joselu ends up here, we're still looking for another one. Murphy was let go when we were looking for a striker. Rivierre is just plain s***. Wish it was him who went rather than Murphy. Gayle is a stride away from pulling his hammy. And we'll be left with Mitro again.

Caulkin thinks there's nothing in the Wilshere link:

Nothing on Perez? Is Joselu the cheaper option being taken? Rafa said something about not the players he wants but with the same characteristics.

I'd suspect Joselu is the back-up for Perez.  Though while a striker is a priority have a capable number 10 is just as big as a priority imo.

It always sounds harsh but the injuries and suspension is the weird potential positive to take from the spurs game.

In theory it should be a big kick up the arse for recruitment. One game, 3 lost players, no goals and a loss.

The main positive I took as that we looked well organised and potentially could have taken a point of a side challenging for the Premier League.  We will never know though due to Shelvey, the injuries didn't help either as we couldn't freshen things up.

We looked very hard to break down and that bodes well for the future. We'll be giving up possession a lot of the time, so based on the first 50mins, at least we looked good defensively. Spurs could only have long shots, bar that moment when Spurs got into the box and passed it around freely.

It will have no impact in the speed or quality of the players we are in for. We have been in this position almost every season under Ashley and he didn't bother to act then.

Still too expensive apparently. Caulkin is only one of a few who can be trusted.

Still think him wanting to return to Spain is the real problem but hope I'm wrong.

From the Mirror...

Lucas Perez’s agent says the forward is doing “everything” he can to facilitate his move back to Deportivo La Coruna.

His representative Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle told Sky Sports: “I think the £10.9m that Deportivo have offered is a great deal. Deportivo received £12.7m when they sold him to them last summer.

“They are giving everything to make this transfer possible. Lucas wants to play but he has a contract with Arsenal. I am hopeful an agreement can be reached.”
