Guest
From what I saw yesterday when he switched to the left, their full-back had him where he wanted him. He didn’t have the pace to outrun him so he was still cutting onto his right and crossing or passing back to Dummett to cross instead.
triggs
He puts way too many crosses in if anything
TRon
I think he would be much more effective in a team that pushes up in numbers like when he was at Bournemouth. He's just not got the pace to do Rafa's methods proper justice, although you can't fault his application, which is why he's a fan favourite. Always puts a good shift in. tinoasprilla
Hits the first defender with his crosses way too often. Takes awful set pieces. Points and shouts a lot which is mistaken for effort. In the team as we have no one else

AsprillasShinPad
It's like having Jack Colback with tipped hair on the wing He was shit today. But our entire front five were dog shit, so I'm not sure if he was the problem or the system was.

bhoywhonder
Missed an open goal and gave a 96th min free kick on the cusp of the penalty area. But yeah, those (ineffective) crosses.

I'm not a Ritchie fan at all, but the one-and-a-half glaring mistakes aside, he played really well - probably played better there than he has in his natural position all season. It's a specialised job against an opponent who had him outpaced but was completely neutralised.

You talking about the pinpoint cross he put over for our 2nd goal here? Never touched him for their last minute free kick either.

When the ball is put to his foot on a dead-ball situation - like that one - with no-one near him - he can do the business. When its played forward to him in any sort of attacking situation, he checks back and sucks momentum from the move. Did it twice tonight, including a sure-fire 2-on-2....he chickened out. Against f*cking Burnley.

AsprillasShinPad
barely touched Lennon for that last minute free kick. Lennon's made a career out of nothing more than being marginally quicker than average and throwing himself over defenders' legs, so not a surprise really. Against f*cking Burnley. I'm far from his biggest fan but that's all crap. "Did it twice tonight" yes well he received the ball a few more times than that in total and made a variety of decisions. It's about controlling the game. Sometimes you go for the quick cross but sometimes its better to check back and rotate the ball through defense keeping the ball a while. Sometimes you go for the quick cross but sometimes its better to check back and rotate the ball through defense keeping the ball a while. Agree with that last bit, sometimes it is appropriate. But is a 2-on-2 scenario where you have broke at pace really the best time to check back and allow the defense to regroup? That move came to nothing when it could've killed the game. It's frustrating to see because players of a lot less ability take on such a move, I just dont know what he was scared would happen.

Cf
I like Ritchie but any time he has the ball going forward it seems clear we need an upgrade. The miss was terrible obviously but I'd strike that down as that could happen to anyone.
