Blueview
Success will eventually turn people more mellow... Just look at how Man Utd fans regard the Glazers nowadays, not happy about them but can live with them.
Ronaldo
The majority of those at SJP are sheep and would regard promotion and a couple of seasons in 14th place as massive success for the club.

Ronaldo
Aye, we're talking about fans who resisted efforts to drive out Alan Pardew after losing multiple consecutive games several times and losing to Sunderland at home 3 times in a row, ditto with Ashley. Loads of us said the supportthateamman attitude would eventually see us relegated and it did. Any other set of fans would've driven a two-bit loser like Steve McClaren out long before he got the boot, same with Carver - who also nearly took us down. Hands up who thinks cunts like Ashley, Pardew and (to a lesser extent) McClaren would've lasted even half the time at a Liverpool or Man United? Thought not. For every decent fan at SJP now there's probably 3 or 4 with not a hint of independent, objective thought between them.

Altamullan
What a negative slanted view. How could you possibly know the mindset of the fans? Wish you'd drop your mind shit in the netty before you post your views on here.

The "we can't get any better" or the "without Ashley we would have done a Leeds" comments from a lot of even quite knowledgeable fans is sickening to say the least. There's nothing wrong with aspiring for more, its not deluded to stand up for better, if you don't you end up like ambition less Sunderland absolutely buzzing about winning a relegation battle every single year. Funny, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't one of those who ridiculed the fans who protested after KK got shafted. You're damned if you do and if you don't where NO's supreme being is concerned. TRon
I thought the whole reason we ended up with Ashley was pretty much because financially we were fucked, anyone worth their while would go nowhere near us because of the accounts, and Ashley didn't do due diligence? We ended up with Ashley because John Hall wanted his 30 pieces of silver, no other reason. The accounts were much worse for any buyer than they were for Shepherd, because the stadium loan had to be immediately paid off in the event of a takeover. That's because John Hall was ultimately making the decisions, probably it was his decision to bring Shepherd on board in the first place. Certainly it was his decision to bring Keegan on board to rescue us from going under first time round, whereas Shepherd was pretty disrespectful of Kev when he left under Ashley iirc. Something about tearing up several resignation notes from King Kev during his previous time in charge. I'm not in the business of forgiving or excusing owners for my part. Either they get it right and I'll be happy, or they get it wrong and then they'll catch hell.

Altamullan
Straw man argument. How can you claim to know what the majority of the hundreds of thousands Newcastle fans think, or the tens of thousands who regularly attend matches. Where does the strength of your conviction in this idea come from? What makes you so sure it's true? Being accepting of the situation as is, and not living-out some fucking 1960s-esque, militant protest fantasy, isn't the same as resignation to this is how it will always be/ it's a result to finish 14th. Really fucks me off how some seem to find it good sport to have self-righteous pot shots at the 'paying clientele'. Where's your balance, humility and sense of camaraderie? Is that just for the placard wavers: "Down with this...oh it is down... Down with that then!"

The College Dropout
No. A decade of degradation. When he bought us we were a club that tried to be classy. A club where European football had been pretty consistent for the previous decade. We had worked to put together a stadium the envy to most in the nation. We wanted to achieve. In the following decade Spurs have shot so far ahead of us. A bunch of clubs will have caught us in terms of stadium capacity and shot way ahead in terms of match day revenue (not entirely his fault but he's made it worse). Our commercial deals are second-rate. We've made no progress with the academy. He's spent the majority of his time here trying to keep us 15th, tried to lower our expectations. He replaced incompetent arsehole with mere incompetence and some were blinded. I have never been a fan of McClaren as a manager but because he is an affable bloke , I wanted him to do well, as I suspect many did. You're right though. All of this came from Ashley.
