Newcastle United 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers - post-match from pg. 17

The lone striker was fine when he had Torres up front, because Liverpool's passing from the back was fantastic, and Torres himself was so dangerous at getting beyond lumbering defences once they opened teams up. We'll get there one way or the other, just think Rafa is still trying to work out the best 11 to work together to the best effect.

You don't need a f***ing lone striker in this league. Put pressure on defences with two extra bodies in the box, this league isn't rocket science.

Agree

It's not like we are trying to stay in a division, we are trying to win it!

totally agree, which is why i agree that he over thinks it at times, just get into the cunts

Torres wouldn't be good in the air if he was having to field long balls punted to him from the back, and I think Gayle would be fine at holding the ball up if it was played to his feet. I still think we have to get the rest of the football right before we start looking for desperate long ball solutions.

At the same time though he's trying to build a style of play here. It should still be easy enough to get us up still, and it's the ay he'll play in the Premier League. Is he going to change all of that for this season, then try and instill this way of playing from scratch in the summer?

He doesn't hold the ball up very well nothing to do with long ball football.

Really bad day at the office. One of those games that you can sense there is going to be trouble within the first 5mins. Fair play to Wolves. Like Huddersfield they came at us early on and we struggled to get any rhythm. Anita the only exclusion as I thought he actually had his best game for us that I can remember.

Has to be said had some good craic with some Wolves lads in the Raj Tandoori last neet. Bad day at the office yesterday. Our fans were the worst thing about it...fucking embarrassing

Was a big day for the groaning freaks yesterday. Even before they scored.

People are mongs. Like honestly, they were whinging at every little thing. I know we should be beating virtually everyone at home but it isn't always gonna happen so easy. Games like yesterday we should be getting behind them not groaning every pass and booing them off at half time / full time. They're cunts. They need to fuck off to the cinema if they're just there to be "entertained".

What goes up must come down at some point, there was far too much of a feel good factor this week, it had us feeling cocky and predicting cricket scores. It's bitten us in the ass, but a blip.. the point is we are going in the right direction, the reality is that we are yet to arrive at our destination, it's going to take a long time.

Nothing to get hysterical over though.

Thank fuck the next home game isn't a league one and hopefully one that we'll win. The place is never going to become a fortress if the players are nervous to step out there.

The time for that sort of crowd reaction has passed.

Some of the lads (twats) that sit behind me were absolutely horrendous yesterday, like. One of them seemed incapable of shouting anything other than 'fucking cunts' every few words. As much as I can't stand watching Paul Dummett struggle about a football pitch, some of the stick he was getting yesterday was embarrassing.

Honestly mate it's ridiculous. Like what planet do these people live on?

There was one moment where Lascelles passed back to Selz and then Selz returned the ball to Lascelles who was in a dangerous position and the crowd blasted them with abuse and groans and actually they played the ball out in a composed manner and created an attack. Fair dues when Perez lost the ball for the goal but not that. When Paul Dummett put a 10 yard pass out too - there was a bloke directly in the way of Atsu (?) and he was the only option apart from going all the way back (again) and whole crowd went apeshit with him for what actually was a pretty difficult pass in the end. Alright he maybe shouldn't have played it but fuck me cut the lad some slack.

Cannot understand for the life of me how blasting someone with abuse who is already giving their best is in any shape or form constructive.

Blimey. I can understand our fans' frustration as in the groaning when we couldn't complete basic 5 yard passes, fuck the booing though. But I don't understand the grief Dummett's gotten, both at the game and on FB and Twitter after.

There's a cunt who sits in the Gallowgate 1 row below where I used to who told both Ba and Cabaye to 'fuck off and don't come back' on their debuts against Arsenal. Some of our fans literally just turn up to watch 11 men in black and white knock a ball towards a goal. They aren't capable of comprehending anything beyond that.
