Odear Posted November 29, 2016 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Annoyed watching that, 2 feeble penalties and Gayle with a wild attempt and also Atsu's was similar but lucky to have gone in under the bar. Shocking way to approach a shootout. I think the pitch played it's part second half but we didn't adapt when Hull did and ultimately a lot of them look like they didn't fancy it enough. First time this season I've been able to say that. Could have just closed out the game when we got the goal but the pitch and some very dodgy defensive positioning put paid to all that. Benitez will furious. Again, was disappointed on Saturday and then tonight but overall it's still quite positive.. we need a run of a few good games now or a mid season rut might set in. Possibly the most frustrating game of the season that. Played them off the park in the first half, they went down to 10 men, we went 1-0 up and yet we still managed to find a way to lose the game. We were the better team but had poor finishing on the night, which cost us. Sels mistake aside and we'd likely be feeling there's some promise of performing well in the next round. It's been obvious all season that we lack quality in midfield outside of Shelvey and i include the 3 behind the striker in that. Not really, we were dominant first half, then got tired second. Get a few players in and we should be okay. In other words, you agree.
