I knew the old Murphy would return after the break

God knows what was wrong with him at the start of the season.

Just had a kid start of season. Similar to Bruno these things take their toll when margins are so fine.

I’ve genuinely always liked him and never got the hate as at least he tries to get the cross in and keep things simple.  Just my type of player over miggy, not slagging miggy off though as I love his attitude and he scores some belters, I just like Murphy.

He also seems to be the clown in the squad and that’s very important I reckon.

Goal was a fluke, but if he had missed the goal, Wilson would have scored on the back post and we'd be raving about his three assists.

Who cares if it was fluke...he took a chance and it went in. Yes it may well have been accidental, but it was still forward dynamic play. Yes he might  not be a superstar, but he works in Eddie's team....think he'd comfortably be a first choice player for at least half of the league

Crazy to think this time 3 and a half years ago, having turned 25 (which isn't young), he was still on loan at Sheff Wed, and at that age, probably more trying to get wages off the bill rather than for development purposes, and he was probably on a trajectory like his twin Josh, yet here he is, playing the best football of his life and an important squad member of the resurgent club he supported as a boy. Great story.

Legit man.

Hard work pays off.

Rafa had an eye like.

I remember a lot of Liverpool fans questioned Rafa's signings, and a lot of ours quoted them when they wanted to have a go, but considering the money he had to spend what he's done with it is pretty amazing.

Dubravka

Miggy

Schar

Murphy

Longstaff

These are guys we signed before we got relegated ffs and they are still here when we are playing CL football.

Eh? None of those were signed before we got relegated

I should have probably checked Google tbh, it's fucked my whole point which was meant to be about Rafa's signings were far better than we realised. Add Joselu to that list btw.

I just don't get how your timescales could be so out of whack. I get we all checked out a bit during recent years, but howay man

Low level drug abuse over a long period of time maybe contributing to loss of short term memory, but the main point was Rafa signed some good players.

He might not be one of our best, but he's been pretty effective in this team. Plus watching him you can see the joy in his face almost for just being here. Will live in memory for his sh**housery waving bye to one of the opposition. Likeable, good solid backup, won't take us to next level but has shown he can be relied on when needed

He’s already taken us to the next level. Twice. Championship to low level Prem team. Low level Prem team to champions league team.

He can go to the next level: champions league team to title challenger. In 6 months we’ll probably look back and say he’s already done that

Only seen the extended highlights, so this might not have been the case for the full 90 minutes.  But they seemed to massively underestimate his ability and get the defending down that side horribly wrong.  He looked to have so much time and space, with Palace playing really narrow.  Might have been an ok tactic if it was against Almiron.  As he would be constantly cutting into congested areas of the pitch.  But Murphy is probably our best player for going down the line and getting a cross in.

For me it's his delivery/end product that has seen massive improvement, as he's often been creative and adventurous in the past but a lot of it was going horribly wrong. He clearly has game intelligence and his runs have improved along with his timing. Added to his increasing confidence he is looking handy indeed
