One did very well for them on loan to be fair and the other flopped at Bournemouth in the PL, plus the latter will cost a lot of money where as Lingard is on a free, sensible really. He’s worth nowhere near that but you have to factor in he’s on a free and could well pay for himself wages wise if he has similar form to what he showed preiviously while on loan there. I know what you’re saying about they could afford £180k a week as they’re paying no fee but you’d soon get the likes of Bowen, Benrahma asking for pay rises. Lingard has been asking for £200kpw, so maybe the figures are related. edit: Bowen is allegedly on £93kpw, and Benrahma is on £23kpw. Rice is apparently currently on £3kpw….. He signed a 5 year/£780,000 contract (£156k per year) in 2018 when he was 19, and he was barely a squad player.
