They were reinstated to ligue 2.

Still pretty scummy. Why aren't they being made to pay this €10m.

I think it was a bit of the old Gordon Brown v Tony Blair scenario with Sandro Rossell

He was cooking the books.

None of the above. Our bylaws barred him from serving 3 consecutive terms as president, and he wanted to pursue a political career (he was elected MP of the Catalan parliament and later tried to run for mayor of Barcelona).

The cooking the books allegations, plus other crap he engaged in, surfaced afterwards.

Find it weird that leffe plays the debt card while his club are £700m in debt.

That’s because you’re not looking into it very deeply . I’m not either tbh.

Debt in of itself is not a problem. Spurs’ debt is very largely because of the stadium/training ground and is very long-term. We’ll be paying interest for ever, but that interest will be perfectly manageable. We’ve financed that from outside rather than have our owners just give us money (like Man City, Chelsea, Villa, Everton etc). Before Ashley sold up you were the only other club who didn’t have net owner financing in the previous 10 years…and of course he took money out.

I primarily have a problem with Barca because of bullshit like the De Jong contract shenanigans. I don’t really care about stuff like selling off future TV rights money - that’s their issue. As long as there’s not a bullshit way to get out of it on the horizon. I don’t know enough about the Spanish salary cap other than on the face of it it seemed like a draconian cut for Barca. I would have thought that - like in the Uk - they’d phase it in over three years or so but presumably there’s a reason they clamped down on Barca so hard?

Pretty much every team has transfer debt and structured payments over a period of time. I presume Barca will still pay Bordeaux that money (?). I just don’t like companies/people/clubs welshing on contracts or doing what is patently the wrong thing.

Arent FFP catching up with Chelsea soon? Leicester sell players with big fees but cant buy before they sell? I know Chelsea have been a CL club for a long time, but the rules seems weird.

They have good revenue and make a shit-ton from player sales. Should be relatively Ok under FFP. Would have been a different story 15 years ago.

A bit like Man City they have a stockpile of youngsters they can sell for a few million quid a go to help the coffers. Last year it was Tomori, this year maybe Hudson-Odoi or Loftus-Cheek.

Who did they sell? Cant remember any sell out beside Tomori. The whole Lukaku fee down the toilet, Sterling, Koulibaly and now Fofana for north of £60m. And Leicester are in a desperate need for sales?

Abraham, Hazard, Matic, Zouma, Costa all got decent fees recently.

Three years? How many millions has gone out since then.

Hardly ages ago then. They have a turnover of £435m per year. They don’t have to worry about ffp for quite a while yet.

Im just question why Leicester (sold for big fees, sensible fees coming in) are in need to sell and Chelsea can just continue like they are Barcelona.

Leicester makes £150m per year compared to Chelsea’s £430m.
