£5m to Man Utd. However, leaves them with no transfer fee and £350k a week (minus of course @Froggy’s favourite 20% CL failure reduction) for the next two years. Just the £29m in wages to cough up for poor, hard done by, £200m package Mbeumo and Cunha signing, Man Utd.

Still Chelsea's player until the end of the month. I'd be shocked if he's not fucked off by then.

I really wish we could afford to let him rot.

 Freedom fighter returning home. Wonder how that makes him feel that a club would rather pay £5m to get rid of you than pay £25m to keep you.

Best of luck getting rid of him if even Chelsea cba with him, he's absolutely shite.

So wait the half a million a week they thought they were rid of in Rashford and Sancho are returning.

Big uff, they should be hard to shift given the wages

I’m sure the Saudis will try and help.

Our overlords, where the left hand is inadvertently trying to break the fingers of the right hand...

It will become more of a moot point when our esteemed leadership finally press go on the one thing that will make the difference. Stadium 2040 here we go…

£230m over five years.

The wages of Rashford and Sancho amount to around £140-150m in the same period. Their almost certain transfer fees add probably another £60m+ on top of that. Lindelof, Eriksen, Evans all gone. That's another £25m in wages over five years. That's five players that don't even play for us anymore and they offset Mbeumo and Cunha's entire cost.

That's not including the potential sales of Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho, Malacia etc.

You're being obtuse. Only looking at incomings and have no care for any outgoings.

I think it's pretty clear we're trying to trim the squad and not fire out £300,000 contracts to youngsters anymore.

£150m saving would have both Rashford and Sancho earning £300k a week for the next five years. That appears pretty high, particularly if the 20% a year non CL clause is active for both. Particularly if the clause applies YoY too. I’d say that’s a significant overestimate. On top of this, you’re stating a ‘almost certain’ transfer fee of +£60m. Bearing in mind both Villa and Chelsea refused to take either player on their current wages and you are stating they are earning £600k a week between them in their current contracts, i would imagine you’re either going to have to massively reduce the expected fee or give them huge pay offs / wage subsidies when they leave. If you have two liabilities on your balance sheet that are going to cost £150m and are effectively of zero use to you, do you really think another club would take those liabilities off you onto their balance sheets and pay significant fees for them, when they know their intrinsic value to you is minimal?

I would say you’re also being pretty obtuse with your argument here.

this is all caveated that the above could come true if they are happy to take our Saudi overlord money and move to the gulf.

I would take Sancho for a price and salary that represents his ability and the risk, but that is impossible. He’d have to accept an ~80% drop in salary and Man Utd would have to accept an under £10m fee.

But he’d be absolutely mental to agree to leaving £13m a year odd in wages on the table, even if it would be a fantastic footballing decision for him as an individual.

Overlords who've taken a club not fit for purpose to one which has qualified for the CL in 2 of its 3 full seasons and won a cup.

Agreed, they’ve been terrific for us, but to kick on they’re going to have to make a big decision. The Saudi Fraud League currently heftily bailing out our rivals at every opportunity grates, and will continue to, until we get an opportunity to properly level the playing field. Until then we rely on the massive key person risk of Eddie being fit, well and firing.
