Brentford are among the lowest wages in the league. A decent payrise will still be comfortably less than £100k.

 

I agree that the reason we don't go for those transfers is resale... but that will be a reason we won't qualify for the CL. Squad depth. This is the cheap route.

I’m not disputing the advantages of signings like this, and this one in particular seems very sensible for Arsenal. But where we are financially means we can’t cover every base that we probably need to. We have to decide where we’re prepared to leave ourselves potentially short.

Pretty sure we sign someone like that Miley would want our as well.

I'm happy to do a slow build but that means selling our best players so they can meet their ambitions.

 

The transfer approach that we look to be going down prioritises immediate returns - proven PL experience. A lot of Howe's management prioritises immediate returns - relies heavily on trusted senior pros up in age at the expense of higher ceiling younger players that need development opps. So it doesn't make sense to leave the squad open in this way.

Good move for all parties. Kuhn had an unsustainably good start to last season and effectivley chucked it after December. There's a player in there somewhere as he's been on the books of Ajax, Bayern, Leipzig and now Celtic, going off what Celtic fans are saying, he has the heart of a mouse, easily bullied and is essentially a one trick pony. He'd never have worked out for us.

To be frank I expect a drop off next season regardless of weather we sign norgard or not

 

Ultimately we are way behind in many aspects which will cause sustainable success to be nigh on impossible. 

 

On top of that we are chronically slow when any major decisions needs to be made. 

 

Isak will be leaving next summer regardless imo, as for Sandro let's see but ultimately we aren't going to be able to keep hold off players who are world class because we are not close to that statute at present and we have an awful lot of work to do if that is indeed our ambition.

I actually agree with this except.... at least on the pitch.. we are relatively close to being Arsenal level good. 4-5 players away from 5th being our floor.

Problem is 4-5 players of the required level is more than we can afford and does that keep our stars? Finishing 5th? I think not. 

 

We really have to watch out, those sharks in Madrid are snipers and have been engineering free transfers for top notch players for too long. We have to get used to some squad turnover. 

 

I'm really concerned we are asleep at the wheel when it comes to the macro side of things.

I'm sick to death of people on here saying Isak will be sold next summer. I am of the opinion to the total opposite. Isak will see out his contract and beyond. He's in for the long haul. If anyone would like a bet then contact me. I will be prepared for any monies to go to charity. Let's say the bet is Isak to be here (Newcastle United) for the 26/27 season. £50.

Southampton always manage to make money despite terrible PL seasons. Sulemana has scored 3 goals for them in 3 years
